It's pretty stupid, but I've seen more stupid than this.
Skipping a meal might do me so good but it sure as hell won't help some poor hungry bastard.
"Praying" never helped anyone. RE: This Has To Be The Stupidest Thing Ever

The only good I can see it doing is the skipping meal part, which would help on a very small scale to understand hunger and what others feel on a daily basis. Praying isn't going to do jack shit. Quote:Skip atleast One meal a week... for a cause... Oh boy... Quote:Pray for your loved one... Or, visit them, talk to them and physically help them with any of their concerns or needs? Quote:Pray for your marks... I'm guessing that's grades? If that's so, FUCKING STUDY YOUR ASS OFF... Quote:Pray for good heath... Or, exercise, eat right and quit bad habits like smoking etc. Quote:Pray for harmony.... Or, be nice to people instead of condemning them to hell. Quote:Pray for the mother earth... Or, recycle and reuse, and don't waste. Quote:Pray for the underprivileged ones... Or, throw a steak at a pile of em and watch em fight, feeding the poor.

My boss recently went to a bible study (I forget what they call it) where they basically lock themselves in the church and study (what?) for as long as they can because people in other countries where christians are persecuted can't meet every sunday, so when they DO get time and a place to meet up they do some hardcore Bible crunching.
I don't get it either.
It would be grand if we could convince all Christians to lock themselves away for a while...

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Problem 2: Religous people think skipping meals and praying is the same thing as helping others. PROBLEM SOLVED! Kudos if you know where that's from.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925 Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan |
