God's nature is who He is, and God never strays from his nature, thus He is holy.

I didn't know holy and stubborn were synonyms.

The Hebrew word chattath and the Greek word hamartia both have a verb form which means literally to miss. At Judges 20:16 for example, the Benjamites would not miss their target when slinging stones. Sin simply means to miss the mark set by another. To sin against your boss, spouse, or government would be to fail to live up to their expectations, in as simple a thing as keeping an appointment, showing up for work on time or breaking the law. Adam sinned against Jehovah in that he failed to follow the instructions given.

Interesting, I've not heard that interpretation before.

I had some thoughts about Jesus and sin.
Am I supposed to believe Jesus dies for my sins, or to accept the "payment" he has made on my behalf?
If we give the historical records the benefit of the doubt, I could believe that a guy called Jesus got crucified, and in his mind he thought he was dying for my sins. However, I can't accept that this act has any actual real meaning because as far as I'm concerned there is no debt to pay to anyone, nor does the currency involved (sins) actually exist. The only way it could exist is if you kept track of your own "sins" using the bible, and since they've all been paid for in advance, it wouldn't seem to matter when you do sin. It's like an open bar for which the tab has been pre paid.
Of course, I don't think this was the original story. I think the human sacrifice was meant to stop animal sacrifices, so that in the future people could apologize to god without having to also kill an animal. But the story mutated beyond recognition from that point.
It's not my fault what weird ideas someone might have in their head about why they are dying. More likely, he got crucified because he became too annoying.

That fits with a verse in Romans (I could look it up, but no one here would care anyway) which basically stated that we all (addressing Christians in particular since it was written to Christians in Rome) sin because we all fall short of God's plan for our lives.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

If you have to follow someone else's plans for your life do you really have a life? If they stop telling you what to do will you be able to think for yourself? If God has a plan for everyone's life then he should have simply lived them himself and not bothered with people at all.

Yes. I have always found life is in the details.
And yes, I would be able to think for myself. But having a little guidance every now and then is much appreciated.
Like in my current job, I am able to run the reconciliation issues without someone looking over my shoulder (even coming up with my own procedures), but I will occasionally seek guidance from a superior if there is something that does not look exactly kosher. There is no shame in seeking help when it is needed.

Sin is what organized religions invented to make people fear and through that obey.
But for example so called deadly sins are the ones which are most humane things. So when you rule out wrath, vanity, lust, gluttony, lust, sloth and envy from humans all you have is pile of same shaped and coloured legos which are there for you to build up to anything you like.

I don't care. That term is not relevant in my life.
