If You Were A Theist
August 28, 2015 at 1:01 am
This is a follow up on my thread If You Were An Atheist, and is directed towards atheists.
If you were a theist how would your life change?
I understand this is a hard question, but I am just asking for inferences.
Personally, I would be much happier, believing that I would never die. Also, I would stay on the forum and try to convert people. Yup, I would be a pretty bad theist.
Thanks!

Well, just because there is a "God" that doesn't mean there is an afterlife. There could also be an afterlife without there being a god.

Um...many moons ago I WAS a theist. All it did was fuck up my Sunday mornings.
Things are better now.

Morally speaking I was demonstrably worse; "Southern Baptist" says it all.

If I knew for sure there was an afterlife I'd be very pissed and I'd try to get out of it if possible. The only exception would be one I'm in charge of.
If God is some prick who chooses where I go based on whether I toady around him, I can't trust or respect that. So I'll just do what I think is right. If he's not a prick, he'll respect my attempt at a good life.
