But did any single sports riot in the US do as much damage and last for as long as Baltimore? We have to compare apples to apples.

Ok forget sports riots then, and look up the most destructive riots in US history, there have been plenty. The point is people of all races have rioted, they have looted and destroyed cities it is not something that is race specific.

Ah!!! racism... even mentioning the word brings so much fire. I'm a white male so automaticly anyone not white thinks that I am racist and any one white automaticly believes that i feel as they do about blacks or hispanics or what ever.

Gene wise we are all Africans only recently migrated. Nature proves it by there being some very beautiful mixed race people. I almost married a black lady.

So now that that's out of the way as far as if I am racist or not here's my questions

I know the history and it isn't pretty. Just to be clear though the white man did a lot of damage to the natives of the Americas too. I sometimes wonder why they don't kill more white people in retribution.

I remember seeing a video about the statistical difference between the chances a white person has to succede and the chances a black person has to succede in this country. Again it ain't pretty.

It makes me wonder why? If I apply for a job in the form of a paper or e-mail and my name is Logan why would I be picked over someone who's name is say Tyrone?

sorry putting the cart before the horse. The video said that those with black sounding names are far less likely to be picked for a job that those with normal names. Sight unseen now.

Of course the cop issue says that blacks are more likely to get pulled over or ticketed than whites..I dont get it since I know that a cop with a record of such behavior would likely be fired.

Schools are less likely to accept black students in to higher level education yet there is the negro college fund. I know plenty of black doctors.

So It makes me wonder. 40 some years after Martin Luther and we are still dealing with this issue? I know there are some that will always be racist but the ones I know of are in no position to make such life changing descions like job offers and education. they are in no way well educated.

Saw one video by a black man that says the reason why there is this issue at least in part.... how do i put this? He describes how a black person or hispanic person is proud of how their tough nieghborhood is. He wonders why this is. He says he is glad he lives in a white nieghborhood.

I know I'm going to incur someones wrath but at the very least after your done bashing my white supremecist ass please educate me on the facts and what actually happens and maybe why. I really do just want to know.

I think of white supremacy as like a religion tbh, all of us (by "us" I mean everyone, not just white people) are subjected to a degree of indoctrination of it from a young age. As we are products of this, I think it's impossible for anyone to not have said or thought a racist thing in their lives. That doesn't mean we're inherently bad people, it just means there's a lot of shit we have to unlearn.

It's "I'm not racist, but..." and some of the shit that, as a white person, I'm privy to hearing other white people say when there are no black people in the room. Part of the problem is that people (especially white people) are more scared of being seen as bad racist people than they are of actually dealing with the problem, so they deny it exists. It's very deal with the symptom and not the cause.

Times like this, I wish the Human race had a goddamn reset button.

If you do it that way, we will never come to an understanding. What happened in Baltimore and Ferguson can only be understood within its historical and global context. Again, I'm not trying to excuse the rioters or say they took the best course of action, but I understand that they were not rioting over Michael Brown. Brown was just a trigger to unleash the pent up frustrations and anger that had been building over decades. In my previous post, I tried to explain the relations between Blacks and Koreans in this country and why the Koreans were attacked.

I lived in Los Angeles, California for 23 years and I know what it's like to hear Black music blasting out of a store but when I go in the store, they trail me around like I'm a potential shoplifter. I know what it's like to enter a store and b hollered at. I know what it's like to be forced to buy the things I need to live from people who have no respect for me because banks won't give business loans to Black owned businesses while the government subsidizes Korean businesses in our neighborhoods after sending us to fight the Korean war. I know what it's like to be told that racism is a thing of the past and in the next breath be told that I have to understand that Koreans follow me around the store because other Blacks have stolen from them. If I accept such treatment on those bases, should I also think of all bald-headed White men as potential skinheads?

I'm not bitter and I don't hate them but I know what it's like and I know why the people in those neighborhoods don't see Koreans as the innocent victims during riots.

Not all, but some of the users responding to this thread didn't bother reading the the original post OR read the original post and somehow how failed to see the blatantly obvious hole in Shinagami's statement (odd, considering how logical most of the users here claim to be) OR saw the flaw in the original post and chose to ignore that fact. Some of these particular posters were likely well-meaning and trying to diffuse a potentially volatile thread. A few just wanted to run with a bullshit "Why are Black people always rioting?" theme (aka- why are black people so stupid and violent).

Some of the of the posters actually do get it

Maybe it was patience, or maybe it was the fact that I typed it out in Microsoft Word and used the delete key a lot. I didn't know you are Black. And I don't know enough about you to say how different we are. I saw that people were saying different things, then as soon as I opened my mouth, everybody went away. That's never happened with any other thread.
