He is also my Rock, my fortress, and my Saviour.
Ok now explain god properly.
A: God is light
Does this mean that god is in fact photons, coz that seems a little limiting.
B: God is love-
Not from my reading of the bible, seems to be a horrible arsehole to me.
C: some other words that mean nothing
I gave you both the Biblical definition as well as my personal definition of God.
God is light means, God is...light. Notice in Genesis that light came before the sun. God is love. He gave His Son to die for people who, He knew, would reject Him. That really is love.
As far as my experience with God...I could try to explain it to you, but you would not understand.

Think about God in a more reasonable sense if you compare god to a mere mortal I have seen people that surpass the biblical god in virtue a million times over. Let's take an example from the christian community there is an hispanic evangelist by the name of Yiye Avila. He is of the fundamental kind but years ago a man murdered his daughter. He forgave him for that and actually went to the prison to pray for him and tell him face to face that he forgave him in the name of Christ. And then he maintained contact with him through letters and the occasional visit.
Your biblical god seems to have a problem with forgiveness, this is a little hard to believe considering that he is "omnipotent". He could have simply forgiven mankind and there would then be no need for him to sacrifice his son for all of humanity at all.
Hebrews 9:22
22.And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
He could have changed this silly rule and just forgiven mankind so this whole redemption story from a rational standpoint makes no sense at all. The bible has more holes than any store bought strainer.
I am proud of knowing Bart Ehrman he is one of the few that actually woke up to the reality that the bible is basically a book of myths. He is a true scholar that did not let his initial religious beliefs cloud his judgment.
How do I know Jesus is not coming back? When you read the resurrection story in the gospels they are all contradictory to each other. I know he is not coming back because no one has ever come back from the dead after being dead for three days which when you do the math from the death to the resurrection it's not even three days.

God does indeed simply forgive man, when man accepts Christ by faith. By accepting Jesus, man acknowleges his responsibility for his own sin to God. Sin must be dealt with. God will not do anything contrary to His nature.
Many young people today fail to demostrate responsibility for their actions and we can see the results. When we accept responsibility for our actions it causes us to seek forgiveness. When we do...God grants it.
BTW, you do not know Jesus is not coming back. You may have your beliefs, but you do not know for sure.

I know with sounder certainty that there is nothing left of him to come back than you can ever begin to comprehend.

Yes! Another Biblical contradiction!
Quote:God is love. He gave His Son to die for people who, He knew, would reject Him. That really is love.
Don't you just love mythology?
Quote:As far as my experience with God...I could try to explain it to you, but you would not understand.
Could the reason for this be that your "experience" is of a personal nature and can't be verified by anyone?
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.
God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?

Oh please do share your knowledge. What evidence do you possess that leaves no doubt that Jesus is not coming back.

Yes, we do know for sure. Jesus isn't coming back (assuming he was even here in the first place).
YOU are the one who has "beliefs". In this world it is an absolute certainty that when people are dead and gone they don't "return".

People don't, but God is not "people". Where's your evidence that God isn't coming back?

Ah, back at square one - where's the evidence he was here in the first place? Even if there was some dude named Jesus, who says he's divine?

What evidence do you possess that he is now in a different state than a slaughtered pig carcass that's been left to nature for 2000 years?
