I've been giving the OP Q alot of thought. I wanted to respond, off the cuff, with something witty, but I kept holding back, to do it justice. I gotta tell you, I don't think I could kill baby Hitler. I'd trade my life for his, even knowing what he grows up to be. It's kind of disappointing, to realize that you have such a glaring weakness. All together or not at all, when it comes to human beings and human babies. I just can't think my way around it. It's kind of fucked up. I'm gonna chalk this one up to biology and move on.

If that is the only thing I can chose to either do or not do while I am back in time, I would most certainly grab baby hitler by the ankles and dash his head against the nearest wall.
But if I am to go back to 1889, and stay there and have a choice of one thing that I can do sometime over the next 30 years, I would not necessarily chose to kill hitler. There may be substantially more sure ways of making the future better.

The net effect of Hitler living and doing what he had the effect of creating the modern world, which is better than the old world. If anything he should be celebrated as a world hero. He united the world against him and his ideas and consequently we know that those ideas simply won't work. And most people, especially younger ones in the Western countries, owe their very existence to him because his actions caused their parents to meet at the right time for them to be conceived.
Eliminate Hitler and you also eliminate almost everyone you know, including yourself.
