Well then, how can you be catholic? The rcc (and other catholic churches, including anglicanism) insistence that god is omniscient means that catholics by necessity have to believe that free will is impossible. For if god knows all, ordinary humans cannot possibly have a choice in their actions.

That is no gay dog.  Look closely as he brushes up against her breasts.  Watch the eyes.  He is clearly jizzing.  No, that dog is not gay.

How do you know the dog's not a bitch?

The belief in free will is a fundamental Catholic teaching.

Yes, we believe God knows everything that happens, that doesn't mean that we don't choose our actions. It means He knows what we are going to choose.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

You can't have god being all knowing and have free will at the same time it's a paradox.

If God knows what you're going to choose than that means every "choice" we think we make is already made for us and there is no free will. There would only be the illusion of free will.

So your god, created me, knowing all along all the choices I would make, including not believing he exists.

And he did this with the knowledge that I would be punished in the Catholic hell. Why would a moral being do this?

Does everything happen according to god's plan?

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Catholic Lady, for you my dear,

Logically, since there is no evidence for the existence of god, one must understand that faith enters the equation.

Personal experience and faith seem to hold hands, and I distinctly remember you stating at one point that you understood that personal experience is not the same for everyone, and that it is something that can only be personal.

Since personal experience and faith are not evidence, by what logic does one retain a strong belief in something?

Comfort, I am guessing.

I could be wrong.

Prove me wrong.

Personal experience can be evidence for that person though. Not the type of evidence that I could show to the whole world to "prove" His existence to everyone, but enough for me personally to hold the position that I do.

From a psychological standpoint, could this personal experience not be held to the same standard as those who are delusional?

I.E., those who believe in such things that are clearly not real.
