RE: New X-Files mini series discussion
They'll stream tonight (1 and 2).
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I half watched it. It seemed to suffer from bad pacing.

I'll wait until the whole mini series has been released and then likely watch it over the space of a weekend.

Okay, watching now and will try and do a blow by blow of thoughts:

Spoilers below, so just keep scrolling if you don't want to read them. I'm setting the precedent for no hide-tags here and now! :p

No mention of the second movie in the voice-over at the start... Undecided

YAYAYAYAYA!!  They went back to the (mostly) original opening title theme! Added Skinner and shortened it, but it's not the craptastic revamp from seasons 8-9... Big Grin

The font they used for the credits at the start is different...  more vertical than it used to be... right?

Ewww, I don't like Scully's hair color.

Boy, Duchovny has aged badly... Tongue

Awkward interaction between Mulder and Scully...

Hey, Poca!  Sveta was a spoiler! Tongue

Eeew, I hate when Mulder calls Scully Dana...

o0o0o0o, does The Soup guy have a crush on Scully???

Super-paranoid Mulder is BACK!!

AHHH!! HE'S SCHMOOZING HER IN A LIMO!!!!!!!!!  THE SOUP GUY IS HITTING ON SCULLY!!!!!

Ooo, the basement office! Smile  And Skinner!!  HA!! And the pencils are still stuck in the ceiling! Big Grin

Mulder is living in the same house as he was in the second movie...

Why did Mulder have his hands on Scully's shoulders for that whole exchange?  That was weird.

LOLOL x-files science is funny.

Wait?  The Tuskegee experiments and Henrietta Lacks are the only examples Mulder gives for the government lying to its citizens??  C'mon, x-files, do better.

Prediction: Sveta doesn't have alien DNA but Scully does...

Half right: both.  And maybe William?  Are we going to see William in the miniseries?!?

Ooops.  Bye Bye Sveta...

AAAAAAAAAHHH!  Smoking Man!!  With a Phantom of the Opera mask?!?

EEK!! Excited... Big Grin

I doubt they'll do stand-alone episodes; if they're doing a miniseries/short season it'll be all business which will probably mean myth-arc, conspiracy stuff, which seems to be the heading based on the first episode here.
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.

First and last episodes are myth arc...the four in between are "monster of the week" stand-alones. [emoji41]

Yes, pacing was an issue among a few other things. Part of the problem is they had ALOT to cover in 45 minutes...

Whoa, really?? They spent an entire episode setting up mytharc stuff and then they're going to do MOTW episodes? I would have thought the miniseries was going to be a super-saturated mytharc thing where they covered the super-soldier stuff, caught us up with William, and that stuff...

Huh

BARF!

I'm sorry, but that show when it first came out showed me how gullible humans can be. I cannot tell you how many stupid people I ran into that could not take it just as entertainment. I am sure the same will happen with this new series and I hope it dies soon. We don't need more stupid people.

Missed most of it last night. I didn't even realize it was on, until I read about in Kitan's post about hating football. I immediately turned the TV to Fox and was surprised to see...Joel McHale?
