In any case, your prior objection is invalid, since we all rely on dictionaries to correct our understanding of words.

Yeah, well, there is also something to be said for critical thinking and common sense, EP. Understanding definitions of words is important, but this is only a starting point.

And you people would rather continue to argue with me on principle despite being wrong. This is a despicable thing to do, and I can only hope you'll admit your mistakes and move on.

Yep. Nothing wrong with your understanding. Everyone that disagrees with you is wrong. Fuck you, EP. Your bullshit has gotten old and tiresome.

These are not my definitions. These are definitions I find in dictionaries.
You can make false definitions all you want, but don't you dare blatantly fucking lie and not expect to be called out on it.

The choice is yours.

There's even stuff like pantheism which can be as banal as "the universe is god". It's such an elastic term, even as commonly used, as to be meaningless.

I believe in god if god is the universe. But that doesn't mean I'm in a religion or that I worship the universe.

If you happen to be a physicist who doesn't like string theory, does that mean you're against string theorists?

It's the same with antitheism. You're against theism. Not against theists.

It seems frankly ridiculous to me that some of you identify as against religion, yet not against theism. I think this stems from the fact that you are embarassed because of initially failing to understand what the word means. If you are against religion, yet not against theism, that effectively means you are against non-theistic religions. Why would you be against those, and not against theistic ones as well?

Keep on projecting, asshole.

Google those definitions. I didn't lie.

Definitions matter. I agree.

EP that you found the definitions you chose in a dictionary is not the problem, nor does it help. The problem is that those definitions, that you chose, do not support the conversation you now wish to have.  It's turns the item of discussion into a private tautology.   Understand?

I don't oppose the belief in God in itself.
If someone tells me they believe in god I don't have much to oppose that argument with, I don't believe you can prove God exists or doesn't exist. I can't disprove that I'm God.
What I oppose is the arguments that usually follow on relating to the belief in God. Numerology, miracles and so on.
For example I believe in God because the Quran is perfect, numerology, I saw God when I took acid once, The bible is nice and so on.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

No, it isn't, you fucking moron. Theism is the belief in god(s). It requires no tenets or dogmas.religion, in this instance, is the belief in a set of tenets and dogmas regardless of the belief in a deity. That the two often go hand in hand does not make then synonymous nor does it justify your conflating off the terms.
