Any horror fanatics in the house?

RE: Any horror fanatics in the house?
I absolutely love the horror genre, though if I'm being honest I much prefer to read it than watch it. Love creepypastas.

Favorite writers:

H.P. Lovecraft
Dean Koontz
Stephen King
Michael Whitehouse (really reminiscent of Algernon Blackwood and H.P. Lovecraft)

Favorite Films:
Mostly anything directed by James Wan
The Exorcist
The Babadook
Friday the Thirteenth series
Halloween series
Trick 'r Treat (best anthology imo)
and the list goes on for a bit

I love the genre, but I've noticed recently that films requiring me to suspend disbelief have to be really good. I effing hate it when "the supernatural" becomes a cop out.

That scene still makes me cringe today. One of, if not the best Trek film too.

They just wanted to go in a different direction rather than keep bringing Michael Myers back. I love III and think the anthology idea was a great one, but sadly it didn't go as they had planned. Perhaps if they'd made it more clear in the promotion of the film that it was different people wouldn't have felt so letdown. That being said I do love some of the ones that came after. To me 4 is the scariest and was quite a comeback for the series after a long hiatus.

I enjoy me a good horror movie and used to read horror books as a kid (Fear Street was my JAM!) but now, as much as I sometimes want to, I have to limit my horror intake to stuff I've seen before and is no longer scary to me so that I can sleep in a house by myself and not get totally freaked out.

Good movie.  It's more suspense to me, than horror, tho, personally.

In college my bedroom had a hook on the door to hang coats and things on and I woke up in the middle of the night after seeing The Ring for the first time and the coast on that hook was the same shape as the little girl with the hair over her face.

I didn't sleep the rest of the night.

Halloween H20 was my favorite Halloween. Was never into the Friday movies. I did like Scream as well.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
