If you want to read an uncorrupted bible why take a 17th century rewrite, designed specifically to bolster James II & VII claims to have a divine right to rule without restraint? Wouldn't you be better off learning Demotic Greek and get your hands on copies of either Vaticanus or Siniaticus (leave aside the fact that by its very nature, to shore up proto-orthodoxy; the bible was corrupted from its first comilation at c 350CE)?
Jesus spake the King's English of course. That he supposedly spoke Aramaic or something is just a lie spread by the A-rabs.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

The thing is though, which literal reading of genesis? The bible has two creation myths, gen. 1 and the garden of eden in gen 2 & 3. These two myths flat out contradict each other, even in Cherubims 'non contradictory' kjv, so if you plump for one you have to reject the other, unless you argue the perfect god took a mulligan on the first creation and started over.

Yes I was. Where in the world did you assume I wasn't? I became a Christian without knowing anything about the Bible. I still believed in evolution during that time, about 3 days after I prayed for God to show me the truth, I got the truth. I knew without a shadow of a doubt God created it all and that evolution is false.
You are not reading properly, which is concerning.
So... you admit to being brainwashed. Congratz!
That's how at least 80% of believers worldwide get to be.... believers!

Well, yes. Belief gets jammed into the head first, then any rationalization is sought. Perfectly understandable through psychology.
With ruthless indoctrination, the very idea that the belief might be wrong is as absurd to us as thinking we might have gravity upside down.
They are victims of psychological damage, which sadly perpetuates itself, as they feel what was done to them was actually good because they know no different.
It's so clear and easy for me to analyze it all from the outside. But to someone under the spell, I may as well be randomly palming the keyboard.

It's all one story, I'm surprised a smart person like you can't see that.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

As customary, G-C, the holy bullshit in your eyes blinds you to reality.

Quote:1. The two contradictory creation accounts.
The Book of Genesis begins with two contradictory creation accounts (1:1-2:3 and 2:4-3:24). In the first, God created humans (male and female) after he finished making all of the other animals. In the second, God made one man (“Adam”) and then created all of the animals in order to find a helpmeet for Adam. God brought all of the animals to Adam, but none of them appealed to him. So God made a woman from one of Adam’s ribs to serve his helpmeet.
Here are two of the more obvious contradictions between the two creation accounts.

Boy, I really start to feel bad over this. Just like kicking a puppy.
I really don't' have the crayons to answer your question any simpler. If God died then the universe doesn't need him to exist. Consequently God is irrelevant.

Yeah, it's one story... with God starting over in the middle without explanation and doing it all differently.

I have a question, IF the earth was not 6000ish years old and the textus receptus was not the best codex from which to translate the bible, would your faith stand or fall? Could you still be a christian if these absolutes were absolutely wrong?
If so (you could remain a christian if your primary source material was wrong) why only entertain questions from those sources/vantage points?
If not (you could not maintain your 'faith' if your source material were wrong) then how is it your believe you are worshiping God, and not an idol (or version of Christianity) you have made with the members of your nondenominational church?
No disrespect intended. I have found in my time here as well as my out reach to other atheists on other websites if you give absolutes or narrowly define what you believe, then you make their first job (make you question your faith) too easy if infact you have already asked yourself those questions.
If you are not comfortable asking yourself the types of questions I posted above, then maybe you should start on a christian forum and speak to the atheists who have question there first. (that's what i did for 5 years before comming to an unregulated site like this one.) If you have a logical mind and have not already explored your own faith to it's foundations and shook them hard, they will for you, and they will show you truth that if your not ready for can destroy everything you think you know about faith and about God. Now if you are a blind faith type and your not into evidence then you should be just fine.
For what it's worth Good luck and remember to question all things and to hold on to what is good.
