Most personally convincing reasons you don't believe.

RE: Most personally convincing reasons you don't believe.
Kudos whoever you want, for whatever reason you want!

I frequently kudos in threads I start, to show I am grateful for people taking the time to get involved. If my kudos doesn't matter to someone, then they are quite welcome to ignore it.

RE: Most personally convincing reasons you don't believe.
Hi guys. After yesterday's unpleasantness I just wanted to make it clear to anyone who's sensitive to this sort of thing that I don't believe my kudos or attention in this thread is any more important than anyone else's. I have exactly the same right as anyone else to kudos what I want and reply to what I want but being in the slightly uncomfortable position of the OP... the one who asked the original question... I can understand how someone so inclined could get the impression that I think I'm more important than anyone else. But there's nothing I can do about that - that's just an unfortunate dynamic of being the OP; just the same as everyone else I'll respond selectively to whatever appeals to me personally in line with my intentions for posting in the thread, which in this case - because I'm the OP - happens to be the question I asked to start the thread, but that doesn't mean I think I own the thread or have any special importance or privileges over the direction it takes. I don't... nobody does... a thread belongs to everyone from the moment of its inception. I just asked a question, and that's my stated purpose for being here, but everyone has a purpose for responding to a thread and the OP is just the first purpose as it were... where the thread goes is up to everyone who posts in it.

RE: Most personally convincing reasons you don't believe.
I've given Kudos to Christians with whom I adamantly disagree, if they make a post that is insightful, honest, and/or well-written. Like Rob, I appreciate the people who actually take the time to read what's written and to thoughtfully consider it before responding, whether or not I agree with or like the response. I Kudos posts for many other reasons.

I Kudos a post if:

* I like what was said, or found it especially well-stated.
* It made me laugh or think, or showed me an angle I had not previously considered.
* They replied to something I said, showing that they'd given the time to think about what I said and respond to it in a meaningful or comical way.
* It's a friend who said something I want to give a "thumbs-up" to, in support.

Why there's a controversy about the "proper" use of Kudos is beyond me.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Going back to the OP, I would say that my confidence that the specific god characters mentioned in the Bible/Quran etc. are fictional is as close to 100% as makes no odds. I'm as confident about that as I could reasonably be about anything.

I'd wager my life against a donut.

Add one more to the list, at one time I thought kudos was being used as a signal in a mafia game, and that certainly led to a lot of controversy I'll tell you that much Blush

One of the reasons I don't believe in gawd is because I prayed for decades, hoping to feel something, hoping for a sign, and never got a single kudo.     Angel
