Thinking About Trying Online Dating Again - Talk Me Out of It

There's nothing wrong with it, I'll be in my forties in only a couple of decades, and time moves very fast. I generally don't discriminate people because of their age in any form. Emphasis mine. Hey, no worries, EP. Also, you might be dead before a few decades pass so there's that too.

A few years ago, I met a divorced man with 2 young boys around my daughter's age - maybe 5 and 3 or so. They came over to visit and he saw my daughter's Disney princess dresses - think Sleeping Beauty and the like. He asked if he could have his boys try on the dresses - "to explore their gender identities". Not knowing what the heck was going on, I said "sure". The older boy would not get near the dresses but the younger one tried one on - it was very bizarre.
A few weeks later, he told me he was in a toy store and actually bought a princess dress for the boys. I also found out he wasn't really divorced, he was about 6 months separated. We went our separate ways not long after that. Also, he was an ex-Jehovah's Witness, not sure if that means anything. I never put atheist on my online profiles back then but when I was about done with online dating, I changed my profile to say atheist and met a man (also an atheist) who used to be a reporter for a TV station in Oregon. Shame it didn't work out, he was interesting to talk with!

Personally, I think encouraging people to "explore their gender identities" is pretty fucking stupid.
If someone's born with the brain of the opposite sex than they otherwise possess, then let them reach that conclusion on their own by the time they become adults. But you don't encourage kids into what might become an enforced delusion. Seeking like-minded female partner. Must be a good critical thinker, independant, and is a good cook/cleaner! Sex optional. (Ha ha. I wasted my 10,000th post on this! Someone better laugh!)

I've never used an online dating site, and don't think I would. I much prefer being able to read a person in person, y'know? You get a much better view of someone, in my view.
I met my last girlfriend online, and we made a go of it for almost three years, but it was random happenstance, not a dating site. I'm skeptical of situations where people are able to screen themselves so easily. Tres, my biggest fear is that there will be genuine replies!
You're in America, right? Hehe
