You are the one letting this shithole? Ok first of all, the sun is going to go boom and I'm not seeing any measures being taken to fix that by management. Also, we need to talk about the killer meteorite situation? That's like a complete no-no even if the goldilocks housing situation is a nightmare. The atmosphere of mars has been leaking for billions of years, the place is a dump! And the next decent intergalactic shopping mall is like lightyears away.

*shrug* I don't find it necessary to have proof of a thing to believe that it exists. I do, however, insist on what is called 'the reasonableness of belief', i.e. that belief is justified if such belief is more reasonable than the absence of the belief. Thus, I believe in the external world but not Bigfoot, just as I believe in extraterrestrial life but not gods.

I know it's merely a joke, but are those the existential risks you fear the most ?

I can subscribe to that. But not the phone number cabalistic type Jim Garrison believed in, thereby venturing deep into Alex Jones territory before he even was born.
That said, on closer introspection, I don't believe in anything that hasn't been proven yet. I only consider the possibility of something existing or having happened. Such as aliens. Why shouldn't there be sentient life somewhere else in the universe, given it's vastness?

I didn't say 'real world', I said 'external world'.
I'm not sure to which doubts you're referring. Can you be more specific?

I believe we will create Artificial General Intelligence within the next 30 years. Therefore I also believe the human race will very soon face a precipice. If we make the jump, we will have become an immortal species capable of colonizing this Universe and of creating others at will. If we don't, the lights might very soon go out in this world, a truly tragic scenario, but the most likely one, I believe, given the minimal resources devoted to this safety problem at the moment.

If I were to let this place - I'm sure I'd find better tenants than 8 billion hairless monkeys, thank you very much. As far as I'm concerned, you're all squatting and I don't owe you a thing. Pay up, or move out, or else I'm going to have the Sun swell up and envelop the Earth... As soon as my lawyers are done with all the necessary leg-work. So you'd better be gone within the next... 5 billion years, or so. Damn bureaucracy...
