RE: The Real Election is 2 days away!!
Well, there doesn't appear to be any serious revolt by the voters today.

Quote:“From whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some trans-Atlantic military giant step the earth and crush us at a blow? Never. All the armies of Europe and Asia...could not by force take a drink from the Ohio River or make a track on the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years. No, if destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide.”

― Abraham Lincoln 1837

Looks like today is the day Lincoln foresaw 179 years ago.

From CNN:
Quote:In Washington state, four electors opted for other candidates, instead of backing Hillary Clinton. Three cast ballots for former Secretary of State Colin Powell, and one backed Faith Spotted Eagle, a Native American activist who's been involved in the North Dakota pipeline fight.

Those Washington electors also picked a mixed bag for the vice presidency. One voted for home-state Sen. Maria Cantwell. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine each got votes, as well. And one went to activist Winona LaDuke, Ralph Nader's running mate as the 2000 Green Party nominee for vice president.
I'm assuming that these electors, realizing that they'll never be handed that chore again, decided to go out in a fizzle of glory. Although I must tip my cap to whoever cast a vote for Ron Paul, as he probably managed to make large numbers of people both happy and angry all at once.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Hopefully this sends a message that the Dems should back a decent candidate next time.

Dems are smart when it comes to appeasing to ppl. I'm sure they've learned from their mistakes.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Why?  The Republicans didn't, and they won.

Apparently we just need to nominate another white male, who appeals to the racism, sexism, and xenophobia of the masses to win.  (Or at least win the Electoral college, but not the popular vote).  Then make a bunch of vague promises that are impossible to keep.  Maybe a celebrity.  That's what our democratic republic has become.

I wouldn't count on it. They're still in blame mode. Pointing their fingers and scratching their heads in disbelief.

They (we; well, at least most of us) may feel better in 2 years (or less).

I have been reading-up a little more on this; even if the Electoral College votes for Trump, then election can still be challenged in early January when the votes are counted.  The Congress does not have to accept the results of the Electoral College vote; it can still be challenged then.  Trump's conflict of interests with his many investments may be sufficient to cause a challenge.  In the end, the House of Representatives may have the last say.

You know that movie where things seem like a forlorn hope, and every time something seems about to happen to turn the tide, things don't happen until the very last possible chance for turning things around comes, and it seems like things aren't going to happen again, but by some miracle, out of left field comes a solution to save the day? Well this ain't that movie.
