I don't think it will work.

I agree it probably won't work this time.  But I think people vastly overestimates the level of moral resistence one could expect from much of American electorate to creeping fascism when it is crudely wrapped in nativism, racism, and patriotism.

Makes me wonder if Neo thinks such groups have earned the right the right to be in the front row (my guess is yes)

Probably true. Erosion happens one speck at a time most often.

I don't.  Meanwhile, it doesn't seem to be working.

What does it say about our country and its electorate that we elected a kindergarten president?   And I suspect that would be far from the worst thing that could be justifiably said of our electorate based on the kind of trumpish behavior it would on the whole allow without impeachment in the next 4 years.

He lost the popular vote. That says something.

I am sure any group that would click their heels, stiffen their arms, and yell "Heil trump!", Or lead breathlessly the chorus of "trump is America, America is trump" would gain this buffoon's approval for sitting in the front row.

Shows how incompetent Trump is as fascists go. He should have used the thin end of the wedge approach with the media. Attack them at one a time, starting with the smallest who don't take their access for granted. These are still corporations that Trump is dealing with and they still care about profits. Once each one falls into line, then you can move onto the bigger players.

You can't just wage war on the entire mainstream media in one go. But it shows how little skill the administration has. They just expect unadulterated power and haven't yet got it.

Fact is that both Trump and the mainstream media need each other. Imagine how it would work out for him if his press conferences and briefings weren't covered at all on any TV channels or newspapers?

You know who gets to decide who attends a press conference?

Hint: It's not the government. Because the next step is the government deciding what the news is.

I mean, unless you are a-ok with government sponsored news, you know, like Russian and North Korea have.  Are you OK with that, Neo?  So far, it seems like you are, as long as "your side" gets to be the ones deciding what the news is.

Don't worry, Neo.  He'll always let your heroes in.

What Thomas Paine said.

The leaders of the revolution fucked Paine over for saying what he said.

The great masses of the people will fall more easily for the big lie than for the little lie, amirite?

Or to put it into words you understand "Wir mußen die Mexikanen auszuroten! Heil Trump!"
