On the one hand, using Shakespeare to comment on current events is nothing new (see in particular Orson Welles' 1938 take on Julius Caesar, setting it in the Fascist Rome of the then-present.)

However, something is very wrong if they're going to take the strict black and white view of this play, especially given that the big crux of the play is the moral ambiguity of the situation.

Also, Caesar's wife was nowhere near her husband's bloody corpse in the play.

So, as long as tax payers didn't fund this heinous bullshit then you don't have a moral or ethical problem with it, and it is not at all comparable to the Shakespeare act you posted? We wouldn't be shifting goal posts, now would we?

Maybe if they did Coriolanus, where the title character is pretty open about his contempt for the people he serves under, a Trump analogy might have worked better. Then again, Coriolanus is one of Shakespeare's less famous plays, and that might not have brought in the audiences or headlines.

And it's got "anus", so Trump's already in it.

And to think that three years later, they took umbrage to the title song to Anything Goes implying the mere existence of "four-letter words" and demanded they change it to "three-letter words."
