People that buy into the golden rule, and a 'right way to behave' that everybody should have to follow. People have value. That sort of thing.
A couple rule discrepancies depending on denomination and individual humanists opinions, but it essentially works out the same.
Probably something like that but I'd prefer to ask the intelligent theist who actually believes such things to explain it.
They wouldn't be a very intelligent theist if they don't believe in the supernatural and are still a theist. I guess you could do a "Universe is God" thing and get somewhere, but that's a pretty big stretch to get to that from Christianity.

Yep, Paul actually addresses the position that the afterlife is allegorical in 1 Cor 15. The person I mentioned could only dodge such passages.

And that is a convincing argument because everyone knows that the bible itself is to be interpreted literally. Read literally, it rules out reading it allegorically. Of course read allegorically, it does no such thing. But so long as everyone is content to stipulate that every word of the bible is literally true, you make a valid point. (Not.)

My post was meant in a double sense. Not only is it pathetic that one 'reasons' by way of citing Bible passages, but Paul's "argument" in that chapter is a complete fail as a chain of reasoning.

If she didn't accept the passage - and she didn't - don'tcha think it would have made more sense for her to be an atheist, or look to other religions?

A professing Christian who sees things differently than you and perhaps interprets the bible differently than you .. so obviously not a true Christian according to you. There is certainly some dumbness going down here.

A professing christian simply cannot be what you're looking for, is all, Whatevs.
They might call themselves christian for some godforsaken reason....but they simply would meet not the -very- lenient qualifications for the title. They wouldn;t even fit as the more general "theist"...and probably not a "deist" for that matter. Hell, with a rejection of the supernatural even animism is off the table.
None of this, is for reasons of disagreeing with me about gods, or spirits, or afterlives, or the supernatural.
