RE: Why are most religions agains homosexuality?
God never said any such thing, he simply indicated his preference for manly gay men...not at all unlike Vor in that regard.

I'm not sure what you are talking about when you say Christianity teaches us to be ashamed of sex lol. I'm certainly not. I think people (in and out of the church) confuse the notion of keeping sex sacred with being ashamed of it.

1. There are no sexual acts that are exclusive to homosexuality, though. A straight married couple can do whatever any two guys would want to do with each other. 2. So it can't be the actions that bother most theists. It has to be something else.

1. It's about what they physically can't do, not what they can.

2. No, because sex between a straight couple who is not married, or who is divorced and remarried, or who is married but has sex in a selfish way, is also contrary to our views on sexual morality.

Any Christian who treats gays badly or sees their sins as "worse" than ours is obviously bigoted against gays on a personal level. And it shouldn't be about that. None of us are perfect and we ALL sin. Heck, if I was gay I highly highly doubt I'd be able to live a celibate life forever, as would be morally ideal for me to do so. I reserve 0 judgement for those people.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

You have a very narrow view of what sex is about. I had that view too. But it's not about having kids. Hell, we've reached a point in scientific advancement that you don't even need to have sex, to have children. Having children and having sex is becoming more and more completely separate actions.

Sex is a bonding experience, more than anything. There is no sexual morality or immorality, except whether or not everyone involved is a consenting adult. We don't need to tack on social constructs like marriage, or even children into it. A man can't give birth, but a man can still raise a child if he wishes to.

As I explained in a different sex, natural law shows us that sex has 2 functional purposes: 1. procreation, 2. bonding (to help couples stay together in case there is a child). At the end of the day, sex is about forming a family. We evolved accordingly. Sex literally would not exist otherwise.

Two men and two women can bond and form families. The men would just have to adopt. Procreation is completely optional.

Who here is empowered to speak on behalf of the Natural Law? Did the catholic church get that franchise?

C_L, I get that you're providing back story for why you believe as you do. I just question yours or the catholic church's standing to speak authoritatively regarding natural law. As has been pointed out many times before, homosexual acts between the same sex are present in many mammalian species. You can't very well say it is just on account of God giving us free will (with the expectation that we toe the line willingly) that we mess up so badly. Did God also give giraffes free will or what's their excuse? When it comes to what is natural, homosexuality definitely plays a part. Procreation doesn't dictate every animal's agenda.

Natural law also says sex feels great. I've tested this assertion a few times.

One thing I don't like about religion (the Abrahamic ones in particular) is that it restricts people in ways they should not be restricted. Sex is great. Nobody should be ashamed for wanting to have sex with somebody, whether it is a one night stand or you are in love but it is outside of marriage or the two of you are of the same biological sex. What is natural, bottom line, is sexual desire. But it is the 21st century, and we've had contraception for how long now? I can't accept something as "natural law" if it can't change with the times. To me that tells me it's actually "the natural law for that time and that place and no other time nor any other place." When I look close enough everything seems to become relative.

RE: Why are most religions agains homosexuality?
We're back round to claiming that whatever is natural is moral again, are we?  No amount of pointing out that homosexuality is natural will amount to anything with a person who believes in "natural law".  This is because they don't actually believe in natural law, it's an ad hoc conflation wherein by "natural" law they mean "my god's" law, ergo they will abandon whatever is natural at earliest convenience, as we've seen repeatedly.

It's an irrelevance in any case..but if a person is going to mouth the words they should say what they mean...and mean what they say.  Sure, we evolved to be effective reproducers..but we also evolved to skullfuck our neighbors wifes corpse while his house burned down to the sounds of his children screaming.

So let's hear some more about this "natural law"and it;s lawgiver as dictated by the religious...... Dodgy
