Minimilist and others...can you recommend books?
I think I am going to take intro to history at university. But till then, can you recommend me good books how to go about studying history. Not actual history and facts, but on the study of history.

That is a wide topic.

Global history is massive. Then there is also scientific history too.

I can say if what you are looking for is a wider sample rate in human history, comparing and contrasting, cannot, nor should be about fishing for excuses to cling to your position. It should be about getting a wider view outside your own comfort zone.

It took me almost a decade from my "Jesus is the one real God" to my current "off" position.

When you talk about reading and learning, that takes TIME, lots of time. And not one book, but lots of reading over long periods of time.

But, if you are looking for shortcuts, google can point you to any part of world history you look into.

But, seriously, if you are going to try to look at the bigger picture worldwide, it isn't a matter of one day or one book, or just the internet, but multiple sources and long periods of time and OBJECTIVITY.

Mystic, you know I give every religion a hard time, but my only goal in saying this, and again, I'd say this to anyone of any label. If you figure out you got it wrong GREAT, but if you never leave your religion, my minimum is that you accept that we are still the same species and far more alike than we are different.

I like John Burrow's final work, A History of Histories: Epics, Chronicles, Romances and Inquiries from Herodotus and Thucydides to the Twentieth Century.
