Be my guest. I'd enjoy some real discussion for a change. The insults don't bother me, but the red herrings and shout-downs have become so tedious that I don't do much real talk anymore.

And again, I was under the impression that the debate section of the religion forums were intended for this purpose. If so, there's no reason to start yet another subforum for something already in place.

The debate section is for formal one on one debate. I'm talking about discussion... like with more than 2 people. Ive never been interested in doing a debate, but i am interested in discussion.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

The debate section is not limited to two people. And I stand corrected. It's in the philosophy section. My point remains, regardless of location.

The rules here are clearly outlined.

It is a place where interested parties can discuss a topic and be allowed a proper response by opposing parties. There are no limits on the type of discussion one can have with others. The rules you guys are proposing are really better served within the confines of the debate subforum because you are essentially asking staff to create yet another subforum where there is limited engagement and where you want to limit what people can or cannot say. We already have the PD rule in place. Honestly, if people want serious discussion on topics that interest them, there's the debate section for that.

The biggest problem with the theists we typically get here is that they are assholes with a chip on their shoulder looking to spread their beliefs to the heathens. I have no problems with the likes of CL, RR, Kingpin, etc... Hell, even Wooters and GC make reasonable points on occasion. The vast majority, though, are shitposters or assholes like Drich, Banned and He Lives. The type of chucklefucks who just know they've got it all figured out and can't resist coming to an atheist site to spread their version of the "good news."

Theists, stop whining. Most of us would be banned from theists forums just for stating our position, no matter how polite we are. (not me personally, haven't tried it but heard stories)

If you want to be here I think you can put up with a little shit. Plus there is this ignore thing.

Kit started the thread, and I'm pretty sure he's not a theist.  Rolleyes

That would require the admission that theism could in some sense possibly be reasonable. I would refer you to the thread about beliefs it is reasonable for a Christian to hold. Not very encouraging.

Unfortunate for christians...but not a problem for rational theism.

I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
