Jesus never killed anyone, and specifically taught us not to.
So you're a pick and choose. jesus promises to kill in revelations. john got it straight from the horses mouth.
I'm a Catholic. Church authority comes above individual interpretation of the bible, and the CCC clearly states that life is sacred and murder is wrong.
Considering Christians typically believe the same, I'd say you are interpreting the bible very differently from the rest of them, if you come away thinking murder is good.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Oh, well, when the rcc says something we can be sure that -that's- what makes it wrong. I wonder if the church is ready to excommunicate jesus when he comes back and goes on his genocidal killing spree? Judging from their history, in that regard..I doubt it.

I'm not saying murder if good and I'm only pointing out what jesus told john according to canon. What do the catholics say about the killings to come in revelations?
Edit: CL, I like you because you have one of the best outlooks when it comes to faith. Don't get to offended. This started with someone else. Don't feel it's your battle.

Cmon guys, I think we all know how it is. Whenever our firmly held and objective moral convictions get in the way of filling pews and plates, under the bus they go!

The Catholic church's opinion on killing between what it says and what it has done are two very different things . More then often it has been looking the other way when convenient.

They're consistently inconsistent, I;ll give em that.

Three things. First, murder is the unlawful killing of a human being by another, so...on that score alone God cannot murder. Second, God has the right to judge or show mercy to anyone and everyone, so his decision to take a person's life is a judgement or in some cases, a mercy (because of the eternal soul thing). Third, God does not give commands to himself, so his actions are guided by his nature. That nature (the paradigm of goodness) would ensure sufficiently moral justification if he did decide to take a life.
