What are the five most moral things in the Bible?

Morality isn't defined in degrees, either something is immoral or it isn't.

The only moral code a christian is to abide by is love, which covers a multitude of sin.

Love cannot commit immoral acts and therefore needs no law to govern it's behavior.

In the Bible it was moral for Abraham to spend his life banging his sister, killing and mutilating people, lying, robbing, committing adultery, child abuse.  It was moral for Lot to pimp out his daughters to be gang raped and for them to have him knock them up.  It was moral for Judah to screw Tamar for a goat and to threaten to burn her alive when he found out that she was preggers.  It's moral for religious thugs to kill people for working on the sabbath.  And it's moral to sell your kids into slavery.

If you think that the Bible preaches love you're nuts.  There's not one story in it that preaches interpersonal love.  Jesus even said that his followers had to hate their families.

So when you find the five most moral things in the Bible you can post them and prove me wrong.

Defining the moral monster of the bible as love is absurd beyond words. If it is how you define love then we need to put you away .

What's the point of having any discussion with you if you're going to just claim whatever you want with no context? Take this one for instance:

You're just bald faced lying at this point, gee I wonder why you didn't post any of the scriptures you referenced... because maybe they don't fit the narrative you're trying to portray?

Here is the full story in context.

Not really the picture you painted is it? Judah even stated he was wrong, so how is the bible condoning the behavior? it's simply stating what happened.

David, (of whom God said was a man after his own heart) got another mans wife pregnant and had him killed, the bible doesn't condone that behavior, It's just telling you what happened, and God punished David for it.

Spoken as someone who has no knowledge of the Bible, learn the different between law and grace, then we can discuss it.

Also, show where Jesus stated for one to hate their family, and I'd better see the word 'hate' prominently displayed.

Oh really? So at what point do the building  blocks develop sufficiently to be called morality? How do we quantify morality? Who decides what this arbitrary threshold is?

You're falling into binary religious thinking again and hiding behind equivocable definitions like a true theist.

(July 2, 2018 at 6:58 pm)Huggy74 Wrote: Could you even define what a "building block of morality" even is in the first place?

Far better than you ever could because I recognise that morality is derived from our evolved human instincts concerning pack behaviour.

(July 2, 2018 at 6:58 pm)Huggy74 Wrote: Morality isn't just the ability to discern right and wrong, it's also about having a system of justice to punish immoral behavior.

Law defines immoral or unacceptable behavior, without law there can be no morality (or at least morality that isn't subjective) because morality isn't left up for one person to decide.

This is what differentiates us from animals.

But bad behaviour can be punished through other means (e.g. ostracisation) and good behaviour can be rewarded (willing to help someone who has exhibited good behaviour). This has happened throughout human history where there are no explicit laws and happens today in modern society in situations where law does not apply.

And this is what the animals are doing in De Waals video. The law just makes this code of conduct explicit.

If it was as you described, then a small community of survivors cast away on a desert island would not be able to be moral until they had devised laws to stop themselves committing heinous and selfish acts. If you think this is so, then explain why laws were invented. How could a community without laws create laws if they did not already have a sense of morality?

Binary religious thinking.

Flicking someone in the forehead is as immoral as murdering them. The binary gods will hold your soul hostage for either.

Yeah.. good job sport.. You certainly showing us who the enlightened are...

How the fuck does playing the race card have one iota to do with theists either not reading the bible or making things up after they do?

It's the unproven assumption the lack of evidence befor you to make a conviction that all christians/anyone wo does not agree with you is a moron. How can you not see that?

It is not far fetched, nor a derogatory or stereotypical statement, to bring attention to the fact that theists generally do not think critically about the bible.

Passionately disliking a man for his religious beliefs is far better than hating him because of the color of his skin, no contest.

Well, you know, someone has to do it.  Too bad you haven't been enlightened one bit, however.

How is "It is amazing how little critical thinking goes into the bible." NOT a stereotypical statement?

2, you understand the second statement was also true against the jews in Nazi germany? That Jews like Germans where white, and varied primary through religious belief.. How can't you see hating a man according to his thoughts are as bad if not worse the hating for skin color.

I don't hate people because they do not agree with me.. so there that bit of enlightenment I do have over you and yours.

Playing the race card only shows that you're a racist. Therefore a moron. I see it plain as day.

I know a lot of christians who are not morons. You ain't one of them.
