Do you think ignoring someone completely is sometimes a good idea?

Do you think that it's a good idea to completely ignore someone you dislike a lot? Never talk to them again, not even when meeting face to face?

The silent treatment is a favorite of malignant narcissists. It's not a healthy coping mechanism for anyone. But it's a favorite of mal narcs.
We do not inherit the world from our parents. We borrow it from our children.

NO.

That is  both churlish and childish behaviour. In my family, sulking has never been permitted.

My thing is to be polite, talking only about the most trivial  things, and excusing myself as soon as possible. If passing in the street, a polite greeting, and keep moving.

I like to think I would behave that way even if I should run into my ex wife. However, I can't guarantee that; she wounded me very deeply.

I'm sorry about your problems with your ex wife. Why is it childish to not talk at all with someone you dislike? Especially if you had a relationship with them (not necessarily romantic) and then ended said relationship because said person was mean?

Sometimes, maybe.

Depending on who they are, it's not particularly practical or realistic though...Like in the case of family, co-workers and such. In those cases, it's probably better to adopt a cool Vulcan-like approach and strictly limit discussion/interactions to only pertinent matters-at-hand and no more. Use as few words as possible to convey only what is necessary.

But if it's not somehow essential to interact with someone you intensely dislike, then don't.

I don't recommend ignoring someone completely.  It robs you of the pleasure of taking every opportunity to tell them what a cunt they are.

My sister should hope we never meet face-to-face again.

The irony is that this guy has me on ignore.

If it's good for your own well-being, sure. But it's one thing to say it's a good idea, and another to say it's practical.

In some circumstances, definitely.

Some people are just totally toxic.

You ignore billions of people every day. I don't see a problem with adding one more. They're either in your life or not, your choice.
