I think they invented "social promotion" for him.
What really impressed me was him fucking the neighbor lady. Her husband was a former Marine. He used to watch Melvin leave for third shift and hustle right across the street. One night he did that and Cecil, Melvin's father, was sitting outside the house next door, under a porch light. An idiot would have thought twice, but Dave followed his dick.

And very subject to emotional appeals to their patriotism. You can get them to do just about anything if you wave (or kiss and fondle) the flag and call your opponents un-American. You can whip up support for a war no one really understands why we're getting into with jingoism and the support of news media that follows the ratings.
