Stop Asking Me to Go to Church with You

Stop Asking Me to Go to Church with You
So many xtians today seem to live by the principle that it’s easier to get god’s forgiveness than his permission. You tell yourselves that you’re not perfect, just forgiven, and then you ask me to go to church with you or encourage me to read the bible. Why?

I should be able to go to your life and see what the man is talking about in church. I should be able to pick up your life and see what the bible has to say. The bible says whatever you do do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to god. So, can you say, “I’m fucking this woman in the name of Jesus. “can you give god thanks for the cigarettes you smoke? I’ll tell you a story.

This girl was at a dance club with her pet parrot. When the music started, the parrot squawked “Look, the roof is on fire. Burn, motherfucker. Burn. “

The whole club was roaring with laughter.

The next day was Sunday and the girl took the parrot to church with her. When the music started, the parrot squawked “Look, the roof is on fire. Burn, motherfucker. Burn. “

The girl was mortified. “not here, parrot.”

The parrot said, “Why not? These are the same motherfuckers who were at the club last night.”

Yes, your god will forgive you if you so seeds to the flesh all week then go to church on Sunday and pray for a crop failure. But don’t come to me talking about how Jesus has changed your life.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

I may defend your right to free speech, but i won't help you pass out flyers.

Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.

Amen!?! Might I add that this should be your exact response any times someone invites you to church.
"Why? I should be able to go to your life and see what the man is talking about in church. I should be able to pick up your life and see what the bible has to say. The Bible says whatever you do do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to god. So, can you say, “xxxxxxx is in the name of Jesus?"
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

If you take a Baptist fishing he will spend his time drinking all your beer. Take two Baptists and they will spend all their time watching each other and you get all the beer.

not a today thing sport. it is a forever thing. Jesus Himself points out that living the way you need to enter heaven under your own deeds is not possible. in mat 5, because he ot only demands we keep the law of moses but extends the law tothought.. it use to be killing someone was the letter of the law, now after christ hating someone is the same as killing them.. for if you are gilt of just one sin you are guilt of breaking all laws. At which point you are disqualified. You are thinking the way the pharisees thought. that their works and deeds will saved them, that if they where simply holy enough they could buy their way into the afterlife with theirgood deeds out weighing heir bad.

This is where Bible based Christianity is different from every other religion (including catholicism) Christ dies in our place if we receive him as out sin sacrifice. Understand we all own God a death for our sin. none are 'good enough.' We all own God a death, in this life we die that is our hysical side of death. out spiritual death will soon follow if we did not have Christ die for us. If we did elect Christ we like him are resurrected to live under him. Not because we are 'good people' or we deserve eternal life. the opposite is true. we are not good people. we are no different than the unsaved in many cased in word or deed. The only thing that separates 'us' fro the unsaved is redemption, not of our worthiness but because we simply love God with all of our being, and love our neighbors as ourselves. That is why we have forgivness. that is the only reason. not because we where mostly good, as that means shite to God. Our love is our bond, and the only thing that divides the saved from the unsaved are 2 commands. Love God and love each other.

That is the sum total of Christianity as the bible describes it. everything else is man's religion.

Quote: You tell yourselves that you’re not perfect, just forgiven, and then you ask me to go to church with you or encourage me to read the bible. Why?
because through out the bible it says we are not perfect. Romans 7 is a great example. Paul the apstole and arguably the father of the church tells all of us he is a sinner but then also reconclies sin by exposing our dual nature. meaning we have a physical side who is a slave to sin and will sin so ong as this body draws breath and there is a spiritual side who is not in full control of this body but who can hate sin and admonish it when the body sins. So long as the new spiritual side hates sin, Paul tells us that is all that is needed to find forgivness in Christ.
4 In the same way, my brothers and sisters, your old selves died and you became free from the law through the body of Christ. Now you belong to someone else. You belong to the one who was raised from death. We belong to Christ so that we can be used in service to God. 5 In the past we were ruled by our sinful selves. The law made us want to do sinful things. And those sinful desires controlled our bodies, so that what we did only brought us spiritual death. 6 In the past the law held us as prisoners, but our old selves died, and we were made free from the law. So now we serve God in a new way, not in the old way, with the written rules. Now we serve God in the new way, with the Spirit.

Our Fight Against Sin
7 You might think I am saying that sin and the law are the same. That is not true. But the law was the only way I could learn what sin means. I would never have known it is wrong to want something that is not mine. But the law said, “You must not want what belongs to someone else.”[a] 8 And sin found a way to use that command and make me want all kinds of things that weren’t mine. So sin came to me because of the command. But without the law, sin has no power. 9 Before I knew the law, I was alive. But when I heard the law’s command, sin began to live, 10 and I died spiritually. The command was meant to bring life, but for me it brought death. 11 Sin found a way to fool me by using the command to make me die.

12 Now the law is holy, and the command is holy and right and good. 13 Does this mean that something that is good brought death to me? No, it was sin that used the good command to bring me death. This shows how terrible sin really is. It can use a good command to produce a result that shows sin at its very worst.

The War Inside Us
14 We know that the law is spiritual, but I am not. I am so human. Sin rules me as if I were its slave. 15 I don’t understand why I act the way I do. I don’t do the good I want to do, and I do the evil I hate. 16 And if I don’t want to do what I do, that means I agree that the law is good. 17 But I am not really the one doing the evil. It is sin living in me that does it. 18 Yes, I know that nothing good lives in me—I mean nothing good lives in the part of me that is not spiritual. I want to do what is good, but I don’t do it. 19 I don’t do the good that I want to do. I do the evil that I don’t want to do. 20 So if I do what I don’t want to do, then I am not really the one doing it. It is the sin living in me that does it.

21 So I have learned this rule: When I want to do good, evil is there with me. 22 In my mind I am happy with God’s law. 23 But I see another law working in my body. That law makes war against the law that my mind accepts. That other law working in my body is the law of sin, and that law makes me its prisoner. 24 What a miserable person I am! Who will save me from this body that brings me death? 25 I thank God for his salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So in my mind I am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful self I am a slave to the law of sin.

Quote:I should be able to go to your life and see what the man is talking about in church.
Yes and No. The man in church is speaking to an ultimate standard, what you should see in any of our lives is a reflection of everything we can do to meet this standard. not to say we should all be doing the same thing at the same time. but each one of us should be on a different level trying to meet or maintain a set standard according to the best of our ablities. this means in some lives yes you will see this standard met and maybe some others maynot be so closly followed and in other this standard may be a mess but others are better followed. to each has been given unique gifts and tools, and for some, some commans are easy to follow while others are not. where we are in our journey or walk with Christ may not have everyone living a specific way but we all must give as much as we can to try and live as an express of love/not out of ritual or obligation, but again because we love God do we try and live like we want to honor god.

Quote:I should be able to pick up your life and see what the bible has to say.
maybe if you where muslim of even catholic or any other denomination that focused on legalism, legalism being "Works based worthyness or salvation." Over and over in the bible we are told there is nothing we can do to earn salvation, this includes living a 'moral life.'

Quote:The bible says whatever you do do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to god. So, can you say, “I’m fucking this woman in the name of Jesus. “can you give god thanks for the cigarettes you smoke? I’ll tell you a story.
Seriously do you really not know any better? To say or claim you are doing something in another's name is to honor that person by doing something they would do but are not here to do it. So would Jesus do what you scenario claims?

depends on the church.

we are in church now (like it or not) and the joke stands as being funny.

same difference.

I have long since ditched this horrible logic theists sell.

"Obey me or burn in hell, your choice".

Yea, funny how no sane person would buy that from an abusive spouse if their partner wanted to leave them.

Robber, "Give me your wallet, and I'll let you live. But, choose to keep it, I'll kill you and take it anyway."

That is not a choice, that is emotional blackmail.

so have i.

we don't burn because we do not obey.

None of us can obey is the point.

So God changed the rules with Christ. it is not about obedience, but about love.

If we can love our God with all of our ability, and our neighbors as our selves we complete or accomplish all the law has to say.
