Another Gun Thread

It really isn't, And one doesn't need to be "humor impaired" to say that . They simply don't have to find it funny . Humor is subjective therefore it's totally possible for a person to never find something funny .

Let's just all start explaining jokes and asking for the meaning of sarcastic remarks a la ABBAboy.

Zilla will ride in and argue with OLB about any and everything and will also ride in to save the day when ABBAboy digs himself in too deep.

A festive atmosphere will be experienced by all.

And the band played on.

That if we don't enforce our gun regs we'll end up with a reactionary ban, effectively committing ourselves to doing nothing.

I see.  I don't mind enforcement of the existing laws.

IT was then modified to mil-spec by the army which converted to assault rifle status and redesignated this new assault rifle as the M-16, then again modified for close quarter combat in a carbine form as the m-4.
So again stupid people, ALL AR-15s are semi automatic NON assault rifles that where purposely made for civilian use.
Educate yourself fools!
ArmaLite, then a division of the Fairchild Aircraft Corporation. When first introduced in 1956, the AR-10 used an innovative straight-line barrel/stock design with phenolic composite and forged alloy parts resulting in a small arm significantly easier to control in automatic fire and over 1 lb (0.45 kg) lighter than other infantry rifles of the day.[1] Over its production life, the original AR-10 was built in relatively small numbers, with fewer than 9,900 rifles assembled. However, the ArmaLite AR-10 would become the progenitor for a wide range of firearms.

In 1957, the basic AR-10 design was rescaled and substantially modified by ArmaLite to accommodate the .223 Remingtoncartridge, and given the designation ArmaLite AR-15.[2] In 1959, ArmaLite sold its rights to the AR-10 and AR-15 to Colt Firearms due to financial difficulties, and limitations in terms of manpower and production capacity.[3] After modifications (most notably, the charging handle was re-located from under the carrying handle like AR-10 to the rear of the receiver), the new redesigned rifle was subsequently adopted by the U.S. military as the M16 Rifle.[4][5][6] Colt continued to use the AR-15 trademark for its line of semi-automatic-only rifles, which it marketed to civilian and law-enforcement customers as the Colt AR-15. With the expiration of its patent, other manufacturers began producing their own variants, known as AR-15 style rifles.

Damn Dirch. If you're going to lecture people you should at least try to get it right. First off Eugene Stoner's AR-10 was chambered in 7.62 x 51 not 7.65 x 29. Second, Armalite's AR-15 was originally a select fire weapon, not a semi-automatic. Colt didn't start selling semi-automatic versions of the AR-15's until 1964.

you didn't eve read my post did you?

everything i said was quoted in the wiki article sport. take your complaint up with them.

Just curious, do you own an AR-15 or AR-10?  I just bought my first AR-15 last month.  It's a Colt LE6920.  I love it.  It shoots great.  It's my new favorite gun to shoot.  I like to shoot as a hobby of mine.  One of my favorite ones along with ice fishing and fishing.

lol. Yes I read your post. Apparently you didn't read the articles you quoted yourself though. The first line from the Wiki article article on the AR-10 says, "The ArmaLite AR-10 is a 7.62×51mm NATO battle rifle..." And the first line from the wiki article on the Armalite AR-15 says, "The ArmaLite AR-15 is a select-fire, air-cooled, gas-operated, magazine-fed assault rifle manufactured in the United States between 1959 and 1964..."

Thanks for showing everyone here you selfish attitude. It doesn't even bother you that the inventor of the Ar-15 never intended it for civilian use.

It is a battlefield weapon, not a toy. "My favorite" is not how you talk about a deadly tool.

"My favorite" is how you talk about music, art, sports."

"I like to shoot as a hobby of mine".....

^^^^^^^ Hobby is not the same as a need, like NOT DYING. Not dying is not a hobby. Not dying is a need.

You can also target shoot with other firearms. So what you are describing by using the word "hobby" isn't describing a right, but a like.

I get that you might like shooting an Ar-15, but you don't need one, especially if you are going to call it a "hobby".

A long time ago, I got pissed at my mom for buying me a cheaper Ross bicycle when the other kids on my street had the popular BMX bikes with mag rims. Her attitude was, "You got a bike, you don't need a BMX". She was right.

If you want a firearm to "have fun" with and shoot targets with, you still do not need an Ar-15. Huge difference between a want and a need.

If you like shooting things at a rapid pace for fun, paintball can do the same thing without the ability to kill lots of people in short order.

Well, I have a favourite sword, a favourite axe, and a favourite chisel.  Is that ok, or should I call them something else?
