Dem debates

RE: Dem debates
Caliburn International Corp. is one such example in Homestead Florida. Bank of America recently cut ties with them because of the conditions. The government often uses private contractors for things like that. It's why we have for-profit prisons (which often cost more than public prisons, and have worse conditions and wore recidivism rates). And Caliburn is not the only example. Other such facilities charge similar rates. Oh and guess who's on Caliburn's board of directors? Trump's former Chief of Staff, John Kelly. Oh and guess who helped push Trump's Zero Tolerance policy? John Kelly.

Ok... So it is fair to criticize the SOLUTION - but the problem?

Not really.

And I wouldn't expect the politicians to come up with anything that addresses the problem. They' 'll just keep sticking bandaids on sucking chest woulds, the media will have something to cry about, and the problem will continue unabated.....

This is a phenomenally easy fix.  Trump created this phony crisis with the stroke of a pen, he could end it that same way.  In the meantime, another good idea would be for these facilities to stop refusing private donations.

And the little girl who drowned at the border along with her father?  Your fault.

The crisis came about because a bunch of bleeding hearts made it clear there would be hell to pay if we didn't be nice to people trying to sneak in with kids in tow.

Those looking to get here for " their fair share" took note and brought kids on a dangerous journey.

The deaders are all yours.

....

You want to see fewer casualties?

Impose severe penalties for those that try to sneak in. Make it far more attractive to immigrate legally rather than by sneaking in.

So why not just be nice and avoid all the mishegoss?

What was that OK for your ancestors but not for people today?

Quote:The deaders are all yours.

Sorry, mate, but that doesn't wash.  When you make it all but impossible for people fleeing from repressive regimes that YOU created, you own the problem.  And the deaths.  And the rape rooms.  And the children living in filth without enough to eat.

Quote:You want to see fewer casualties?

Very much so, yes.

Quote:Impose severe penalties for those that try to sneak in.

More severe than death?  More severe than kidnapping their children?  More sever than putting people in concentration camps?  What exactly did you have in mind?

Quote:Make it far more attractive to immigrate legally rather than by sneaking in.

You realize that it is illegal to lock up asylum seekers, no matter HOW they get to the US, right?

You think " being nice" will solve the problem?

It's what CAUSED it.

And yeah. I got no problem with separating people from their kids - when they endanger those kids...

By your logic -- Only people who don't have kids can go to prison...

Your emotional tripe looks all nice - but it does more harm than good. It just encourages more people to try the border dash lottery....

But - other than your inhumane treatment of these desperate people - there IS no problem.  This is just one more of Trump's political sops to his fascist base.  But I'll give you a chance:  What exactly IS the problem in your view?

People are NOT endangering their kids, your border policies are.  Your detention policies are.  The substandard conditions in which you house these children are.

I'm not sure where you got that this is my logic.  I don't think ANY one should go to prison for crossing the US border, kids or no kids.

This isn't an emotional issue for me.  It's a legal and humanitarian issue.

Well that's telling. There's no more obvious way to spot an amoral piece of shit than to hear them use the term, "bleeding heart." Yeah, empathy for another is a bad thing.

Asshole, I hope you are someday in a position when you are in desperate need of help and the only people in a position to help are equally scornful of your worthless ass.

FUCK YOU!!!

Severe penalties like separating people from their children and putting them in detention centers? There was already an issue with unaccompanied minors showing up at the border, but breaking up families is explicitly a Trump policy, turning a problem into a crisis.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

You know you're on the wrong side of history when you spend time arguing why your concentration camps aren't like other concentration camps.
