I kid you not, I was a dishwasher at a breakfast place. One day the boss's son brought me a pot of biscuit gravy. He shouted at me about the lost potential profits. All I could think was, "how the fuck was I supposed to know"?
It isn't about rights for me, and most of the sane. It is about letting one industry dictate laws to protect profits.

Yeah, you and GB aren't saying the same thing at all. You're saying that the profit motive is responsible for gun deaths. He's saying that a profit motive can prevent gun deaths.

Yes I am a "nitwit".... Meanwhile in the sane world, all of our other first world allies DO NOT have the same amount of firearm violence we do.

The gun industry doesn't dictate those laws. They would be very happy if the laws required gun owners, here,..a captive consumer, to buy new guns with more and more expensive safeguards. Which is hilarious, since the laws the gun industry actually does spend money to rig are those regarding export, particularly to conflict zones with no regulations and no means to enforce regulations, cuz active conflict zone. They're doing great there.
You're laying the blame for an exclusively political problem on guys who make widgets, Brian. Same as ever. Thingf is, they want to stay ion business, making widgets, and they're not mouth breathers. Anything that imperils their domestic industry is just as bad for them, as it it seems for you.
Don't take my word for it, though, check the ad copy on their industrial advocacy groups webpage..which isn't the NRA, lol. Theyre all about stringent safety regs and the responsible continuity of their business model. Here, at least. I dont even know what you're going to do when the NRA dies the death of a thousand cuts in their knifefight with ackerman, having recently rolled over and accepted their designation as a domestic terrorist organization in settlement. The actual companies who produce guns want to be fucking miles away from that, for obvious reasons...and theyre not doing well as a whole, mergers and dissolutions and layoffs....it's hard to be a pimp.

Unfortunately, the domestic gun industries hard profit driven push for biometrics has hit the political wall of a wedge issue. Who do we think will win in a contest between elements of the federal government and a privately owned factory?
Fuck, in that context it;s not even surprising that they've focused on export markets...for all the misery that may cause.... the domestic market is a loser.

Kind of sad the first reaction some on the right have to this is "well CA has strict gun laws" despite several mass shootings happening in very gun friendly states. The good guy with a gun is the biggest myth out there that has been tested. I'm sure NRA is prepping their bi-annual talking points.

Odds on this guy will be found to have taken Daddy's gun from:
-A nightstand,
-The glovebox of a car,
-The shoebox on the top shelf of the closet.
