Did Mary and Joseph ever have sex?

The question isn’t whether they had sex. There is no need to give any weight to any of bullshit with which Christianity sought through the ages to browbeat the feeble minded, or worse, lie, drich. If there was a progeny before the 20th century, there was sex. So there can be no question that if there was any individual or individuals behind the character Jesus, sexual reproduction was to blame for each one of those.
The question that might be of interest would is sex be-tween whom produced that individual, or individuals. It could be part of the jesus tale to traceable to sex between Joseph and Mary. But perhaps between Mary and someone else. Or between two completely different individuals and only ascribed to Mary through some deceit for reasons now lost to time.
Mary and Joe were erm gallivanting, as it were.
Mary gets up the duff because as a peasant she is not good at counting. Mary and Joe knows she will be executed for the sin of...something. It is not adultery since neither were married. Being sexed up youngsters, I suppose. Mary and Joe concoct a story to cover up for the unexpected pregnancy by making up a "holy rapist", thus saving Mary from the inevitable stoning. And they all lived happily ever after. Oh well, this is an unsolvable conundrum for Christians. Catholics desperately want to believe Mary and Joseph never had sex, while protestants don't care.
The most honest article I could find is a protestant article that is taking into account what Catholics and some of the prominent Christians want to believe versus Mt. 1:25 Surprisingly, article calls out Catholic game of playing the usual "the world in the Bible has many meanings/ it is wrongly translated" as deceptive, just as their quick practice of changing the subject from Mt. 1:25 to some other verses. But the conclusion from the article is: Quote:Both Martin Luther and John Calvin affirmed the perpetual virginity of Mary. Whether or not they and the Roman Catholic Church are correct will ultimately be decided when we encounter the Lord, and he reveals the truth to us in heaven. So you heard it: it's one of those mysteries that Christians will learn the answer to when they are dead. Along with all the secrets from "Lost" and "Battlestar Galactica".
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Catholics desperately want to believe Mary and Joseph never had sex, while protestants don't care. In fairness, and honesty, i had a school friend. He was, I suppose, the soft type, son of a widow, a mom's boy. He became the viictim du jour. Eventually he suicided. It is a matter of great regret to me that as kids we did not intervene in what we could plainly see happening. We all knew that he was being abused by the cross dressing rapists. But we were kids. Rather him than any of the rest of us. Poor fucker. And that is how it went in those days. Everyone knew not just how to spot the victim, but how to avoid becoming the victim. And if one did not learn that lesson, then you were wastage. Better you than me. It grieves me now, in later life, that I did not step up for what I knew to be right when I was a child. But I was a child. The blanket of authority and fear conquered all. |
