RE: I have given up smoking 6 months ago , but ...
OP the good news is that you don't need nicotine to live so abstaining won't kill you. The bad news is that you'll feel bad for a while before the drug is completely out of your system.

I used to smoke and I quit cold turkey, well, more like a sawtooth weening. When I wanted to smoke I would try not to and when that urge became too great I would buy a pack. The instant I thought about quitting I would focus on that idea and destroy the pack. Rinse and repeat and the times between buying a pack increased and the amount of time a pack survived in my house decreased. Now I don't even think about smoking....

Much.

The real question, or underlying problem is how to "enjoy life", ultimately that is why we turn to things like smoking, drinking, caffeine, or whatever other compulsions grab us. My answers have been rock climbing, playing bass guitar, swing dancing, getting married, having a child. In that order.

I still drink booze and then energy drinks in the morning to cure the hangover, so no real solutions from me just replacement behaviors.

My bold - that was not my experience after consuming Easy Way - it felt great! Rejoicing as I was/am at being free from the shackles of the filthy weed!

I quite simply don't believe you. Quitting nicotine is a chemical process with predictable side effects. So, either you were such a light smoker that the side effects of quitting were easy to ignore, or you are just downplaying the effect within yourself through some self-delusion.

That stuff in bold is exactly my issue right now .

How do i enjoy life without any of the bad habits

Huh

When i did not use the gum on Sunday due to the lock down , my head was feeling like at least 10 kilo grams extra

Only few people understand that problem .

So i have decided to use 1 gum per day .

I don't find anything interesting to do or put it simply how else am i supposed to enjoy my life ??

Huh

So, as long as you are continuing to keep up with the gum you are going to keep feeling those negative effects. You simply HAVE to stop consuming the gum. Here is what I would suggest:

1. decide to stop using nicotine products
2. as soon as a flick of that thought enters the mind grab it and let it inform your actions i.e. scorched earth destroy ALL the nicotine products!
3. resist the urge to buy any nicotine products
4. when you FAIL to resist the urge, and you WILL fail, go back to step 1

This method is all stick no carrot, but the result will be an economic effect that will merge the experience of nicotine with the negative effects it has on your wallet.

As far as enjoying life, well, pick something you like to do or find a friend that does something they seem to enjoy and do that until you decide if you like it or not...
Profit?

Thanks for taking your valuable time to post that reply .

I will try to stay away from nicotine related products as soon as possible . why as soon as possible is because i cant completely stop all of it suddenly
i will try to reduce the gum to one gum per day .

Otherwise its too dull .

I play the guitar too , i have tried to learn the musical notations but could not find any good books to do that .

I know tabs are a lot more easier to learn , but for some reason i like to try learning musical notations too .

Any suggestions for a book like that  ?

Thanks

I understand your skepticism, but I swear on my mother's life it is the truth. We've had it drilled into us that quitting smoking is HAAAARD! - that's part of the brainwashing. I was a 30 a day smoker. Nicotine withdrawals are mild - that's the important thing to bear in mind - where as knowing you've smoked your last cigarette and are FREE from the dreadful slavery of smoking feels joyous and fantabulously wonderful! - especially during those first few weeks! - so on balance you feel bloody great, despite the mild physiological twitch of nicotine withdrawals. I'm not going into this further now - read/listen to the book and rid your mind of the smoking addiction enigma. Also please suspend your incredulity rather than calling me a liar until, at least, you have done so. There is a reason Allen Carr is fucking famous - because, for many, Easy Way is, quite literally, a lifesaver.

I didn't call you a liar. I called you delusional. I'm genuinely glad that you found some copy that jived with you and tricked you into believing that you felt no ill effects. It lacks empathy to pretend that there are no ill effects from the cessation of smoking and if you read the OP...

You did read the OP right?

This person is struggling with a very well-worn experience so for you to come in here with your magic feathers and snake oil...

It really is missing the point.

Sorry for missing the guitar question. I don't know. I just played by ear mostly. I have used tabs a couple times. There are complete lessons available but I have no experience with them. Smile

The delusion is thinking that it is necessarily hard to stop smoking. Given the massive deleterious effects of smoking (death/cancer/money etc etc etc) does it not strike you that smoking is a delusional cognitive error? If not HOW THE FUCK NOT?!?!?!? Easy Way erases the brainwashing/delusion which has been built into and building up in every addicted smoker. You have it the wrong way round RE the location of the delusion. Like I said, consume the book or stop slagging it off from your position of near total ignorance as to its contents, Rhizomorph13. It's really not a good look, from where I'm sitting.

"Given the massive deleterious effects of smoking (death/cancer/money etc etc etc) does it not strike you that smoking is a delusional cognitive error?" Um, no it is a chemical process of addiction that is well documented.

I'm not going to read your book. I think we can meet on some common ground and I'll concede that the effects of stopping smoking are often overblown, BUT I do not believe there is a way to avoid SOME effect from quitting and that gets us back to the OP expressing their REAL problems that they are experiencing so GOOD for you that you found a way to stop smoking that didn't cause you some discomfort. Oh, wait, you had to read some terrible book, never mind. Smile
