Why?

If you are convinced all cops are corrupt - you won't believe any of them...

His next tool would have been a tazer....

Who said I think all cops are corrupt? The majority are decent people. But it's fairly well known that many cops, along with their support mechanisms, will close ranks to protect one another, especially in these days of Trumpy and his minions.

An independent lab would, hopefully, be seen as having no agenda in this instance, at least by the reasonable protesters.

As for the rioters and looters: break some heads.

The FACT (cited in both autopsies) that he was whacked on Fentanyl and had meth in his system AKA a speedball - MIGHT have made him a bit uncompliant AND more likely to injury - never seems to get mentioned.......

There's no proof he was speedballing.  The half-life of meth is said to be 12 hours but since it's a street drug that could vary depending on the recipe cooked up.

The half-life of Fentanyl is 2-4 hours.  It's entirely possible he used meth hours before he ingested Fentanyl.

Claiming he was speed balling is speculation.

Not that it matters one fucking bit.  He died due to oxygen deprivation caused by an extended period of time when blood flow was restricted or completely blocked due to the compression.

I don't see how, him being high on something, makes killing him somehow ok...

Having your carotids crushed under the weight of a full grown man for that length of time will kill anyone; whether they're on drugs on not.
Doesn't matter that he was talking. He could draw air into his lungs, but his brain could not receive needed oxygen because blood flow to his brain was cut off, mechanically, by that fucking demonic cop's knee.

I can clearly see that that was the proximate cause of Floyd's death in viewing the footage.

You don't see it because you don't want to...for "reasons", I assume.
But it is there, clear as day; and the independent autopsy confirms it.

Have you ever seen someone really whacked out on drugs? I have. I saw a guy who was whacked on PCP - and six cops could not physically restrain him.

The dude died - and no cop ever struck a blow on the guy. (I ended up testifying in court over the deal).

...

Dunno about this case - but I would be way less than surprised to hear drugs were a contributing factor in both his being a problem child that needed restraining or even his death.

It's seldom just one thing....

No, but I do have some familiarity with anatomy and mechanism of injury as a nurse and EMT.

You ever had a dose of Fentanyl?  Strung out and hard to restrain is pretty much the opposite of what it does.

Both autopsy reports state that he died from the 8+ minutes of compression that hampered blood flow.

If his system were pristine...never a drug or drop of liquor having entered his system...8+ minutes of restricted blood flow to the brain would have killed him.

The first autopsy says that there was evidence of recent meth use...that could have been days before.

Unlike cocaine, a stimulant that’s quickly removed from and almost completely metabolized in the body, —largely unchanged by the body’s metabolism—much longer, leading to prolonged stimulant effects. The effects of meth can last anywhere from around 8-24 hours, depending on how much is taken, the time of day, how it was administered (IV, oral, etc.) how well the kidneys and liver are functioning, and the individual’s body chemistry. It has a half-life of 9-24 hours. This means that it takes 9-24 hours for the amount of meth in a person’s blood to be reduced by half.

We aren't talking about PCP.

The drugs didn't kill this guy.

The man had the life squeezed out of him.  full fucking stop

But fentanyl affects a persons responses to stimuli - like a cop asking for compliance AND slows respiration......

I bet it did not help the situation...

So, you are saying he could have been combative and resisting arrest but also calm enough to tell them he couldn't breathe and his respiration slowed due to the meds.  8+ minutes of compression slowed his respiration...that we can be sure of.

I understand looking at both sides and looking at all the facts but muddying the waters isn't helpful.  He was asphyxiated by the prolonged actions of three cops while junior stood back with his hands in his pockets apparently scratching his balls.

He died because of what the cops did.  The use of excessive force led to Mr. Floyd's murder at their hands.
