Flat Earther, and other conspiracy theories. Are they mostly atheists?
#81
RE: Flat Earther, and other conspiracy theories. Are they mostly atheists?
I have never met a an atheistic flat earther, but I'm sure they exist.

There are a group of flat earthers in every Christian forum... or at least that's what it seemed like when I used to frequent Christian forums. But (as one would expect) most people on Christian forums accept the spherical Earth model, and much eye rolling was done at flat earthers.

Inasmuch as atheists tend toward critical thinking (which they tend to, with exceptions) then flat Earth or conspiracy theories are going to struggle to gain traction in their communities.

Creationism really got the ball rolling for flat earth among Christians. In order to think creationism is plausible, you must first accept that there is a network of scientists willing to lie in order to "keep God down." Once you accept that, you're only a few more baby steps away from considering flat earth.

Their all about having others be roped into the larges pyramid scheme ever created, religion. The believers have to share their message with everyone they know at the top of their lungs. Still makes my blood boil how churches in the US, don't have to pay taxes. Is America the only country that allows this bullshit? Then their are the anti-vaxers, instead of being anti-vax, those people should be anti stupid.

the whole development to implementation process took less than a year. there is no way
" regulatory process" is the same with covid vax as with all others.

You seem to have misunderstood me. I said DON’T be stupid.

So you build a straw man by cutting 1/3 of what i have to say, just to attack an incomplete thought and say it is/i am stupid?!? if those actions work among the 'educated' in your mind's eye, i have no problem wearing your label.

Your reply to awty wasn’t relevant to my reply to you. That is the ONLY reason I snipped your post. Your assessment of the FDA regulation of COVID vaccines is, well, stupid.

You don’t seem to grasp what a straw man is. I’m not constructing a parody of your argument and refuting that instead of your actual argument. I’m not even attempting a refutation of your actual argument. I’m simply dismissing it because it’s (wait for it) stupid.

Your initial statement was:
“I don't think chrona virus vaxs should count as they are not truly a vax as they are not even FDA regulated vaxs”

^^^^^The key component of your sentence is:
“they are not even FDA regulated vaxs”

However, you provided this link, Drich:
Source:
https://www.fda.gov/vaccines-blood-biolo...opment-101

Scroll down the page and find:
“Below is the typical process that FDA expects vaccine developers to follow to generate the information it needs to assess the safety and effectiveness of a vaccine to prevent an infectious disease:”

Look at point 4. It starts with
Special Considerations - Public health emergencies and more information

So, the FDA does regulate it.

Drich, you also said:
this process of development can take as long as 10 years.. and the fda scrutiny another 6 months to a year after the fact.
Source:
https://www.hiv.va.gov/patient/clinical-...rocess.asp

However, that is about drug development.

Fun fact, the groundwork for the cov vax had already been laid before we ever got confirmation of the first cases in the us. Before china ever acknowledged that it could be transmitted from human being to human being. Before covid was fully sequenced. We'd been working on it for other reasons, that simply ceased to exist, as the last guy said, "as if by magic".

It was a product in search of an application. Imagine how much worse this could have gotten if we actually had to start from scratch. Still took a year to get it out.

I can't speak for other flat earthers but I'm an atheist.
It really is baffling why so many people can't understand the simple science behind it.

It's one of those super interesting ones where, if you actually set out to observe the curvature of the earth as a complete layperson - you'd likely see something that seemed to suggest the flat earthers doubts had merit. I did something like the channel experiments with my kids for a science project - and even though I knew what I was seeing and why because I'd looked into it - it still made me smile in something like disbelief.

Now, they didn't know any of that - and lemme tell you, they were completely convinced that the earth was flat for a few glorious days.

Yep. The edge of the world. Again, this is easily verified. Just sail up to it.
Don't bother asking a pilot to fly you there, they'll just fly you in a circle.
