Are you denying the historical fact that the Islamic world and the Vikings traded? Are denying the historical fact that the Vikings fought as mercenaries for other powers? If so your ignorance knows no bounds.

Quote:Vikings are well known to reach America before Gog and Magog Spaniards ! so nobody is underestimating the size of their expeditions but the English and Gog & Magog enthusiasts.
WTF?

Gog and Magog is a biblical reference to the sons of Japheth and grandsons of Noah. Evangelical Christians, Seventh Day Adventists, especially The Worldwide Church of God led by Herbert W. Armstrong and his son Ted Armstrong claim the Russians are descendants of Gog and Magog. Judaeo-Christian Mythology makes for terrible history and is complete bullshit. At best Gog and Magog could be safely said to be the ancient Jews name for the Scythian tribes of the southern Russian steppes, no doubt the Jews learned about them from the Persians, who sometimes had to fend off raids and attacks from the Scythians.

Anyway, the ring is a fascinating find. Always find anything to do with archaeology interesting.

Oh, I know what Gog and Magog are. It's the rest of his winter's babble I was questioning. Smile

Slaves, too, were a big Viking commodity; Baghdad was a major trade center for this.  And, as you said, this story, while interesting, adds little to nothing new (in my opinion at least) in the area of medieval studies.

Yup they also traded with the Spanish Moors generally from their settlement at Dublin

Probably the raiding and warring part (for which Vikings and Muslims were notorious for) came from the Islamic influence.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Not sure how a thing a guy named michael crichton writes about, which gets optioned into a big budget movie, that brings in 61mil usd..is gog and magog ignoring anything.  Maybe you're just a fruit loop getting groomed to blow yourself up in a crowded place?  Yeah, great movie, though.  Books better, that's pretty much the rule with his stuff.  Jurassic Park, Sphere, Westworld.  Timeline is one I thought was fun.

The "Islamic terrororism" propaganda became a thing of myth and pure dishonesty especially with the advent of these events:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christchur..._shootings

Quote:Brenton Harrison Tarrant, a 28-year-old man from Grafton, New South Wales, Australia, was arrested shortly afterward. He was described in media reports as a white supremacist[13][14] and part of the alt-right. He had live-streamed the first shooting on

and

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_Unite...tol_attack

Quote:On January 6, 2021, the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., was violently attacked by a mob of supporters of President Donald Trump. They sought to overturn his defeat in the 2020 presidential election by disrupting the joint session of Congress assembled to count electoral votes that would formalize President-elect Joe Biden's victory.[3][26]

and

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Norway_attacks

Quote:The Norwegian Police arrested Breivik, a 32-year-old Norwegian right-wing extremist,[25] on Utøya island[26] and charged him with both attacks.[27

And as for 9/11, the U.S.A supported deadly backward proxies like the Sauds, so a lot of people went angry with the years of support for this tyrant regime.

But let's not forget that Europeans and Americans were by far the worst slavers in history. Stories like "Uncle Tom" make me almost vomit from American brutality.

Muslims enslaved human beings, too, practiced amputations, beheadings, etc.

Islam was enslaving people before European colonialism happened or America even existed as a country and it's still happening so shut it  Dodgy

Also the fact there have been non-Muslim terrorists is irrelevant to the fact there have been many Muslim terrorists you can't refute Islamic extremism by pointing to other forms of extremism. Nor will invoking not a true Scotsmen fallacies help you.

Muslim slaves had the freedom to become even caliphs of the whole Islamic realm; just like the Mamluks:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mamluk

Quote:Mamluk (Arabicمملوك‎, romanizedmamlūk (singular), مماليكmamālīk (plural), translated as "one who is owned",[2] meaning "slave",[3] also transliterated as Mamelukemamluqmamlukemamelukmamelukemamaluke, or marmeluke) is a term most commonly referring to non-Arab, ethnically diverse (mostly TurkicCaucasianEastern and Southeastern Europeanslave-soldiers and freed slaves to which were assigned military and administrative duties, serving the ruling Arab dynasties in the Muslim world.[2][4][5][6]

The first empire to ever defeat the infamous Mongols was the Mamluki Muslim empire:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Ain_Jalut

Quote:The Battle of Ain Jalut ([url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_language]Arabicمعركة عين جالوت‎, romanizedMa'rakat ‘Ayn Jālūt), also spelled Ayn Jalut, was fought between the Bahri Mamluks of Egypt and the Mongol Empire on 3 September 1260 (25 Ramadan 658 AH) in southeastern Galilee in the Jezreel Valley near what is known today as the Spring of Harod (Arabicعين جالوت‎, romanized‘Ayn Jālūtlit.'Spring of Goliath'). The battle marked the height of the extent of Mongol conquests, and was the first time a Mongol advance had ever been permanently beaten back in direct combat on the battlefield.[13][14]

Our slaves were our brothers and sisters, not like Uncle Tom.
