The PR Wing Of The GOP

Quote:You don't need to respond since you've got your supposed mic drop and you're too good and you're on your way, but you've proven my point with your post.
His goal probably wasn't Mic drop but he got one nonetheless and no your point was nowhere proven in his post.

Quote:I've sided with you completely in saying that Repubs are a threat to people's rights, but you still try to pretend and make false claims about me not caring about that threat, because I refuse to say that Democracy was under threat on J6, which is your delusional belief. I don't need to give into your delusions to prove that I care.
Your utter denialism at the direct and inescapable link between Jan 6 and the broader threat of Republican idealogy is the only delusion here and makes your statement above the bullshit. So Thumb made no false claims.

Quote:And ah yes, the argument from authority. I'm American and you're Canadian, so that settles that. Americans have never been known to be wrong.
Nope learn what that is before claiming it. Nowhere did he say he knows better because he's an American. He said you can afford to pretend it didn't matter because you have no personnel vested interest in the consequences. BIG DIFFERENCE!!!

He made the claim that J6 itself was a direct, legitimate threat to democracy. I like how he and you are now moving the goalposts though, saying that the threat Republicans pose politically is actually what is worse than Pearl Harbor and 9/11, which is entirely true, but you are lumping all of that in with a certain date in history, J6, which is a deceptive argument. These are two separate issues, so stop conflating these two things to try to make your argument stronger, just because the BS you were trying to push specifically about J6 can't stand on its' own merit without you adding every other thing the Republicans have ever done wrong or will ever do wrong to it.

Whatever you think he implied, the reality is that he has a gut feeling that I don't care whatsoever about people dying and getting injured and committing suicide, because I'm Canadian. Whether he said it directly or not, the implication from his post seems to be that I just don't get it because I have no skin in the game. I think if the Republic of the US of A was about to fall and be taken over by white ethnostatist nationalists, I'd probably care just a tad. The States are our biggest ally afterall, and I think it might impact Canadians just a tad if we were living next to the 4th reich, so yeah, this "you're just a Canadian, so let me drop this mic and walk away" argument doesn't really compute in this case.

And yes, it really is comical that in this timeline we're living in, a celebrity rag is more reliable and trustworthy than most mainstream media outlets.

Because Jan 6 was a direct legitimate threat to democracy and in terms of the intentions of its perpetrators it was as bad or worse than 9/11 or Pearl Harbor and is part of the broader Republican agenda. That's literally what Thump said and what I said. So there is no goal post moving or deceptions here you just have very poor comprehension skills. Dodgy

It's not what I think he implied it's what he fucking said and it does compute as regardless of international relations you will not suffer comparably to an American Citizen under the Fascist United States thus you have no skin in the game and have the luxury of mere dismissal.  As a Canadian, I can at least acknowledge that I'm not going to be as bad off as an American in a Fascist United States. So there has been no deception it's just that you apparently can't read..... Dodgy

RE: The PR Wing Of The GOP
So, apparently, the storming of the Capitol on January 6, despite being directly preceded by a rally wherein Trump perpetuated lies about how the election was stolen from him, talked about how he refuses to concede defeat, and directly asked the rioters who ended up storming the Capitol to go there and "try and give [the Republicans of Congress] the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country," and that "if you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore" (as part of a speech that mentioned fighting 21 times) had nothing to do with the threat of the GOP's ideology.

Has IA bought into the premise that if a plan didn't get pulled off, it doesn't count? Or has he just decided causality isn't a thing?

I know right. I don't know what he was reading. But it sure as heck wasn't anything either and he's essentially shadow boxing against imaginary opponents.... Dodgy

Like so many of these apologists/minimizers, he's reading what he wants.

6 Jan was:

1) planned to occur, not accidental;

2) a result of coordination between some right-wing groups and some government officials;

3) a harbinger, unless we take stiff action -- because these people are not going anywhere.

A sampling of some of the most recent articles I've linked in a thread I started at AD:

If IA cannot or more likely will not see the danger, that's okay. The facts are out there for those interested.
