What does it say about your god that every murderer, rapist, torturer, paedophile, and despot that has ever disgraced our species was made in his image?
It says he is all. The good and the bad. He's not some nice genie in the sky.

You can change my mind -- Let God, Jesus or whoever spontaneously heal an adult amputee. I will believe, eventually, once the possibility of fraud has been eliminated.
When that happens I'll let you know.

Most people think he's some nice genie in the sky.

I don't know how many Christians have told me there is a distinction between god and the universe. But when you can make up fanfiction to explain things I guess anything will do.

Right, he's a psychotic one. That's always been one of the issues with the story. Unlikeable main character.

Thanks, Lek. This doesn't sound like the version of God who floods the earth, fathers a son, and issues final trumps. Is there any difference between the God you believe in and the God of pantheism (a doctrine which identifies God with the universe, or regards the universe as a manifestation of God)?

I know this is an old post, but i have a problem with that definition, like most definitions of god it only covers one answer to one aspect of god, while at the same time introducing other problems.
Firstly we are designed (it is said) to have free will, what parts of a body have free will ? Wouldn't us being part of a body mean the head (Christ) was sinning ?
Second God wants a intellectual relationship with us, so we can reason with him (Isaiah 1:18) and numerous other passages where god talks to people. I really don't understand Christians when they say effectively that their god wants a close, intimate loving relationship with them, while saying at the same time we cannot understand his mind or ways.. Wouldn't a god if he wanted company and companionship create creatures who did understand him and could talk on his level ? It's like me having unlimited power to be able to create a creature to have a loving relationship with, creating a gnat, then punish it for it's misunderstanding ways !
Thirdly, How does a finger 'know' the presence of the brain that controls it ?
We kinda understand what you are trying to say, but it's a very strained analogy.

Why worship something that is both good and bad and doesn't reward you for worshipping it? You're describing the universe and everything in it, I believe the universe and everything in it exists, but I don't get why I should treat it like a conscious being, or why I should worship it if it is.
