Russia and Ukraine

The Russians have spent ten months and absorbed 100,000 casualties trying to take a town of 70,000 -- and failing.

The "stern" Russian response has been a small wave of Kalibr missiles ... all shot down. Stern stuff, indeed!

Oh my, it turns out that the US was behind the drone attack on Kremlin. Quick, Oliver Stone should make a movie about this attack.

Quote:Russia claims the U.S. is behind the alleged Ukrainian drone attack on the Kremlin

The accusation, made without citing any evidence, comes less than 24 hours after Moscow said that it had foiled an overnight drone strike on a building that is the heart of the country’s government and Putin’s residence.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed Thursday that Washington had masterminded the incident. The U.S. swiftly rejected the accusation, saying it had nothing to do with it, as did Ukraine.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I guess they realized that the whole ukraine bit wasn't even internally believable, on account of how ukraine leaves smoldering craters where russian shit once stood with some regularity. On second thought, it was the omnipresent....yet perpetually bumbling.....great western satan. My favorite part was how the pro invasion media arglebargled some bullshit about how now the gloves were off. They were really gonna fuck ukraine up now, and kill that clown what keeps pantsing them. As if they hadn't repeatedly tried, and failed, at both tasks.

These “leaks” are said to be modified as they are being spread through news outlets and social media. Many facts are being distorted so I chose to stick on what I really know and discard everything that could potentially be false information Smile

Good god..I missed that part of the bit. Another great example of people's own stupidity shaming them. Zelinskyy is a greater threat to the planet...in a post about what..... who..... might do?

I think that's part of western military's risk averse philosophy. That and the airframe itself have combined to produce a 76-1-5 ratio of air to air kills, air to air losses*, and ground to air loses.  The f15 has an even better ratio.  Still.  I think it's uncontroversial to say that no fighter has any chance, by those risk averse standards, over saturated and operational air defense.  The mig29s they fly certainly don't...and yet....

Quote:Yet some are relativizing this point of view by saying that the training of Ukrainian Pilots who know how to operate Soviet-Era fighter jets would only take 2 to 6 months and that the F-16 would provide to the Ukrainians some of the capacities they need:
Keyword some, and that goes to the heart of it.  Ukrainian pilots would..I'm certain, fly f16s if they had them.  If it's our credible worry that this would be an unacceptable risk environment for those pilots, it seems that this would be a compelling reason to provide them with them with those other capacities, rather then deny them the capacities of a budget workhorse like an f16.  We have reasons for not giving ukraine f16s, "too much missile" isn't one of them, imo.

Quote:Also the problem with the fleet of the USAF is that it is rapidly aging and is losing its advantage toward the PLA Airforce which has a rapidly growing fleet of J-20’s with underground bunkers in mainland China that will protect these planes from US + Allies missile barrages.

So one approach could be to deliver these to Ukraine / Taiwan + other countries in need while switching to F-35’s + the next-next generation fighter that is set to make its appearance in the 2030’s.

If I am reading this correctly China is set to become a formidable military adversary in the next decade.
Barring any other thing that night happen to china in the next decade...  Yeah, it's hard to see how they wouldn't be.  I don't know why we'd be firing missile barrages into mainland china, but I guess that is the worst possible timeline experiment.  As I understand it, the j20 was designed to be a credible threat to us carrier groups, so..at present anyway, it'd be facing off with super hornets, not f16s.  Same basic issue either way, though.  Importantly, it does mean that a program to replace the f16 would have little to no effect on the makeup of carrier based aircraft.  Not even the same branches.

*the air to air losses are disputed, potentially higher.

RE: Russia and Ukraine
Russian air defenses have always been overrated, and it's not just because of equipment, but because of doctrine. The sensor suite on the F-16 is almost certainly far beyond anything either side is flying in this war, which not only helps for precision attacks, but also aids in avoiding ground-based anti-air. And if we sell Ukraine some more JDAMs, the F-16s will be able to stand off, execute a pop-up guided toss-bombing, and then hit the deck and boogie.

As far as the US being behind the drone attack, if we wanted to bomb the Kremlin, the Russians -- and the entire world -- would goddamned well know it. There's no fixing what elephants do ... and we don't use Black Cats in our ordnance.

Just because russia cant do anything right doesn't make being on the other end of russian guns anything less than rough.  I'm pretty sure that you would fail to successfuly assault my home, but that wouldn't make it any less shitty for the kids living in my home while you tried.

Anywho, do we agree that russia should get all the nonexistent pro-russian parts of ukraine and go the fuck home when they do..... or what?

No, we are not quite in agreement. Russia will take the parts that they've already declared Russian soil, and they will defend this land with nukes if necessary as it is the homeland now. Don't like it? Too bad. The great Satan's proxy army on the ground can't maintain this pace forever. Unless you want Ukraine to be flattened or China to step in, be my guest. Don't negotiate. You say you don't care if China supplies Russia with weapons though. A true sign that a man just doesn't give a damn about any of the consequences of war or any of this when you're shrugging off China's involvement like that.

What are your thoughts on Russia and Ukraine? You want me to post 8 hours straight about it without time to rest and hang out with family, or I'm scared of Nudge, who is admitting that his former position was wrong and that now it's a very rough situation for Ukraine?
