My sex life has never been something I have discussed with an employer. Unless you count the day when and boss from years ago walked through my office and said he was horny. I told him to go stand outside in the rain. If that happened now...someone would be in big trouble.

If that happened now...someone would be in big trouble. Where I work many people have pictures of their spouses on their desks, wear wedding rings, talk about their partners to colleagues, share photos of their spouses on social media, and some of the younger ones even talk about their dates and dating. Jokes and comments about married life, gay life, dating life, and sex jokes aren't uncommon. On another tangent, but still talking about unequal treatment for OS, in the UK there are multiple organisations that deal with all manner of lgbtq+ issues and offer counselling, therapy, support etc. When I contacted my GP about getting support when I first had to deal with the idea that I was an objectum (and other things) I was referred to an organisation that offers sexuality counselling for lgbtq+ people. They said they couldn't talk to me about OS because none of them had any expertise in that area. After some investigation they informed me there wasn't a single organisation in the UK that could help me. In a nation where most are dependant on NHS care that is a problem.
I guess I have always been too closely tied to HR.
Wedding rings may or may not mean a person is married. Lack of a wedding ring also isn't a sure indicator of anything. I guess I was just taught differently as to how to behave and what to share in the workplace. RE: Ask me anything

I would find it odd to work in any job where colleagues didn't feel it was acceptable to ask each other about how their spouse was, or to refrain from mentioning that they'd spent a weekend doing such and such with their partner, or having to refrain from having photos of their SOs, or mentioning it was their anniversary, or a million other totally innocent and normal ways people talk to each other and act around each other. I guess we have just had very different work experiences. But the issue is that someone shouldn't be treated different if they're gay, straight, ace, OS, bi, or whatever. And someone who is bi, OS, gay, or whatever shouldn't feel it necessary to hide or lie about that or act differently to everyone else in their place of employment.
If your coworkers are running to the higher ups with what is gossip about another person's weekend fun and games...something is wrong with the work environment.

I agree. If people treat people who are gay, OS, whatever differently, or report them, and especially if management discriminate against them on that basis, then something is wrong with the work environment.
Do you want your coworkers whacked?
