This answer.

Quote:How "open-minded" are you to the idea that your god is a load of shit?

Clowns like you are so one-dimensional. You demand open-mindedness when it comes to considering the existence of your sky-daddy but draw the line at considering its non-existence.

There is a term for people like you.

"Full of shit."

Not just that, but with other Gods and religions. If I ask "Does Muhammad have the exact same chance of being correct as John the Bapitist?" and you answer "No", then it is obvious you are not being open minded.

If i ask "Are the chances of Thor existing the same as Jehovah existing" and you say "very little to none" then you are not being open minded.

i feel that only a few philosophies in life can honestly be called open minded when it comes to religion: Polytheism, Pantheism, agnosticism, atheism, and some of the deists.

John - why go debate a pastor? There is absolutely NOTHING you could say that will ever get him to pull his own head out of his ass.

Words like evidence, justice, and love are subject to their own personal definitions and their god cannot be held to any kind of standard because "he is god." There is no debating someone who has no respect for logic or reason and continually changes the parameters of those concepts as well.

If Godsdump has shown us anything, it's that rational thinking does not exist with these people. The mental gymnastics necessary to counter your logical arguments and the contradictions of the bible are so ridiculous that you end up talking in circles for hours with an imbecile that does not deserve the pleasure of your time.

I highly recommend leaving as soon as you finish your sandwich.

PS. Immediately after he prays for his food, ask him about Matthew 6:5

Because if he invited me to talk this over with him instead of the members of his church, If I can't keep face and talk to him as I do the other's why should they listen to me anymore? I don't run from a challenge regardless of who's challenging me.

Maybe I can wake a few sleepers by standing my ground, we complain allot about how crazy and miss-guided christian's are yet we don't even attempt to show them the way to true understanding.

Im not trying to pry christians away from there faith, Im trying to help them evolve a new way of thinking. I realize most are not ready to accept reality, but those who are will eventually see the truth even if it is little by little.

So is this a group thing, or just you and the preacher? Because if it is just between you and the preacher, then I think it's a big waste of time. Even if it is a group thing, you're eventually going to have to just agree to disagree, because you're not going to change his mind and he's not going to change yours.

I think you are not reasoning very well, you are trying to compare apples with oranges. You are comparing the beliefs of two people against, the belief of one in a God and the non belief of the other person.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Not just that, but being a pastor means he gets a free home, free money, and a free podium with willing ears to listen to his bullshit.

Needless to say it will take a miracle to break him away from the gold mine he has..

I agree. Go and talk with him...then return to his flock and keep spreading the truth.

Just look him dead in the eye and say "You know its just a myth." and be dead serious.

Meh, you are probably correct. Islam obviously deserves more of the benefit of the doubt than Christianity, which is obviously a myth. Normally being an atheist I consider all religions to have equal chance of being correct, but now that you have made this post, it has made me reconsider and realizze that Islam deserves a special consideration above all other religions.

thanks GC for pointing that out for me.

Exactly. There are priests/preachers out there who lost their faith, but they're afraid to walk away from their posts since they do have a good job, and most don't know how to do anything else.

All the reason why I said look him in the eye and point out the obvious. If you are good at reading peoples reactions, you can base the rest of the discussion from that reaction.
