May God show you the way.

May God show you the way.
"May God show you the way."

That is what a homeless couple was told today. They are living in a motel because they were evicted from their apartment. The husband has been unemployed and looking for work, but their situation is only getting worse.

When will religious people, particularly Christians, realise that no prayer will provide housing and food? It is compassionate people who make these provisions.

Pointing to god is what is causing unnecessary suffering.

*sigh*
God is a personification of ourselves, what we wish to be, and that which we do not understand.

James 2:14-17

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

What you've described is sadly a textbook example of a dead faith. If they were following Jesus, they would have done something more than wish him well.
Psalm 19:1-2

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

They won't. It is the natural result of believing in magical solutions.

Because it obviates their responsibility in the matter. It defers involvement and a solution to the problem to an non-existent deity. Similar to when people tell me "it is in god's hands". I prefer to control my own destiny and not some omnipotent ghost.

They would first have to cease being cheap, egotistical hypocrites. And that isn't very realistic, is it?

Right, that explains the complete lack of Christian charities. Oh, wait...

Horseshit. Religious-based "charities" are marketing arms. When they stop giving the hungry a spoonful of jesus with every spoonful of soup then you can tell me altruistic they are.

Agreed.
With the exception of the Salvation Army, afaik. They provide bed, bath, and bread when neccessary but won't raise the subject unless you ask or give them an occassion to do so.
