I am sure that god does not exist.
However if someone comes up with compelling evidence to this not being the case then I will review my position.
Until then.....

As am I, based on every piece of evidence that we do have about gods. Largely their own myths, relics, artifacts, and history. "But what if something entirely different than all of this that I'll just call "god" for the sake of argument exists!" What if my wife had beer flavored nipples?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It seems fitting here so I will say it.
The god I am most afraid of is the one that exists only in the head of a fundamentalist believer.

One can, however, show them that there god is found nowhere else. What else should be required?

I can't be sure God does not exist.
He maybe a turtle grown tired and lying low under Io ice.
Perhaps I just made my turtle up, I can't be sure he's not there.
Other gods, na I just have to dismiss them they are so implausible compared to the turtle I just invented.

Just drawing the quote you posted into the overall fold of the convo. The varied personal gods (they're all very personal when you put the shovel to the earth) are definitely terrifying in their breadth and possibility. Nonetheless, it isn't impossible to show the fundy that their very personal god is a very personal con. Would you say that the motivations of the fundy in question create the god that might compel the same fundy to whatever action we fear?

Sure it's impossible to show a fundamentalist that. Tell me, if you found yourself aboard the fated flight with Mohammed Atta, and you told him his god only existed in his head, you would still be dead wouldn't you? If however his god didn't exist only in his head, he would never have been piloting that plane.

Whether or not I get offed by a believer has no bearing on whether or not I've competently explained what his god is or where it comes from. That's just crazy people doing crazy shit. It isn't impossible to show, even if it is impossible to force an effect.
I view the uncertainty people feel with regards to this subject as an effect of roughly 195,000 years worth of refinements in propaganda and psychological intimidation. Even so, we have to actually create new gods (deists gods in this instance) to maintain our uncertainty.

If you competently explained to a believer that his god didn't exist, then the believer wouldn't kill you because his god told him to. IOW, you didn't explain anything to him competently. Why is that hard to understand? It seems pretty obvious to me. It's like me wanting to kill you because you raped my wife and I kill you even though you explain competently (prove to me) that I have no wife.
