There are several problems with this text. First, this text, in fact Mark 16:9-20, is not found in the original manuscripts. It appears, according to Textual Criticism, that the original text that Mark wrote ended at verse 8. Perhaps the reason someone has added the lat 12 verses is because verse 8 is an odd ending for one of the Gospels.
Just an add-on. Apparently one of the popes had a poisonous snake business and you know how those motherfuckers are about making a buck.
Kind of explains the opening of the story.
