Use the fucking google search feature. You seem to have no problem doing that when you want to post an inane video clip, so get a clue.

A poe is someone who takes up an extreme position in a discussion without actually believing in it.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

thankyou, devils advocate is a more familiar term to me.

actually, to be called a poe is a backhanded compliment, its implies the accused is arguing more intelligently than expected, therefore they must be a fake. How would a "poe" be detected otherwise?

Well also, a poe can say anything completely absurd and it still be believable as being advocated by a Fundamentalist...though in actuality, if someone really believed in Poe's Law, they'd be kind of gullible.

A cherry picker is less honest than a fundamentalist.

A fundamentalist is honestly that dumb and doesn't pretend otherwise. A cherry picker is very nearly that dumb but pretends to be far smarter.

So you haven't been reading the responses to your statements? You certainly haven't been answering questions very well. Find the tabs that indicate the pages in the thread, then go back and read. When you have finished answering questions, we can move on.

Constructing a deity to do all that for you is a cop-out. Your sense of worth should come from who you are as a person, not what you believe in.

But how do you define "positive impression" in a meaningless universe, any action you take is neither positive or negative, its just a meaningless neutral action.

Ok, you're absolutely correct. On the grand scheme of things i.e. the Universe in general, we, as a species, have almost no effect at all. However, one cannot simply construct a cosmic pillar upon which we may stand and shout "hey, Universe! Look at me! My life has meaning now!" That is asinine, and holds not a shred of truth (in accordance with reality as we perceive it). What you must concentrate on is that which you CAN affect, not that which you cannot. Otherwise, you've pretty much just given up. Oh, and I would define "positive impression" as the prevailing memories that others will have of you after you're gone ("Did you find joy in your life? Did your life bring joy to others?"). For instance, there was a guy recently who saved two childeren who were being swept out to sea by the tide, but then he ended up drowning. He will be remembered as kind and brave, you see?
