Alleged Contradictions - Sabbath

Its like Bill Hicks said: "[...]People say "Bill, quit talking about Kennedy man. It was a long time ago, just let it go, alright? It's a long time ago, just forget it." I'm like, alright, then don't bring up Jesus to me. As long as we're talking shelf life here..."

He said my narrative is a Christian version of what happened at the beginning of Christianity but has little to do with historic accuracy.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? I gave a brief history of the pre Christian Sabbath and pointed out that, though it was scriptural to observe the sabbath if one chose, it wasn't law. With a brief aside regarding the apostate churches sabbath.

I don't like it when someone says shit like "What Daystar says is only a part of it - he missed the rest of the stuff and got this or that wrong etc" without not only offering the alternative but even explaining or backing their opinion.

I didn't really explore the historic accuracy - so what is it?

josef Wrote:It is interesting to see that all what we call abrahamic religions subdue history and even have no problem to contort history to their believes.

Perhaps that is why it is so difficult for you to explain the historic inaccuracies etc.

josef Wrote:Now about the double lineage of Christ it had to begin from king David because some prophets predicted that the Messaiah will be an offspring of his dynasty. It was perhaps politically corect to say that at their time-the amount of bribe they got for this saying from the Authorities we'll never know.

You're full of shit.

So he reckons your "brief history" wasn't accurate. What exactly are you finding so funny about that? Why not instead of swearing at him and being rude, you back up your assertions with evidence?

If you are going to keep criticizing my posts why do you not read them or at least consider them more carefully?

My complaint - the reason I didn't take it seriously - is that josef questioned the Christian History, which had very little to do with anything in the first place, WITHOUT providing a reason for doing so or an alternative position.

How, or more importantly, why, would I respond to a baseless criticism? What would I say - "Uh, no. That's not true."

There's a difference between worshiping someone and preaching about them and just thinking they were brilliant and admiring their work. You don't seem to know the difference according to this stupid comment to made.
I don't worship Darwin, nor am I obsessed with him.

I didn't say that you worshipped him, I responded to your remarks about Jesus and Kennedy as being outdated.

Jesus lived over 2000 years ago and we don't know whether he existed at all. He really is outdated if you compare him to Darwin! A lot more outdated and we can't really know as much about him as Darwin because he lived so much longer ago.
But the main point is that you talk of Jesus as if he's the be all and end all. And perhaps you don't worship him, I don't know, but a lot of theists do. At least we know Darwin existed and he isn't half as outdated as Jesus if you can call him outdated at all. Bill Hicks' point was that If Kennedy is outdated how outdated must Jesus be!!!
I don't think you can really call any great thinker or person outdated, the greatest Ancient Greek philosophers were before Jesus and a lot of what they say isn't outdated its still true today. But they, and Jesus got a lot of things wrong.
There have been many advances since Jesus' time, so why live your life by someone who thought things that we know today are wrong, to the point of thinking he is the perfect good and is Lord?! There have been greater minds since. And I personally think a lot of the Greek philosophers before him were better thinkers and moral philosophers.
Basically: why live your life by someone who lived over 2000 years ago and while (if he existed) was probably a great man for the time - thought slavery was a good thing?

I thought the reason would have been obvious to you: He didn't think you were entirely accurate. You presented your opinion of what the interpretation of the Jesus lineage was, and he presented his alternative. This is what happens in discussions. You present an opinion; people talk about it; someone else points out some supposed flaws; you debate.

What you don't do is go "Are you serious?" and then rudely refuse to talk about anything related to what he brought up. If you want to be a part of this discussion, you'll have to respond to criticism...

Adrian Hi
As usual you got me right.
The shock, believers get when reading historical interpretations of the Bible is so big ,so nonconformistic to their imagine of the holly book that for them it is all no less then blasphemy and they are not able to perceive the slightest humor of the topic.
Nevertheless if Daystar has the courage to learn about historical interpretations of the Bible I'll be ready to provide him with a list of interesting books on that issue.
