Yeah, but your right hand is a lousy conversationalist. Whatever floats your goat, I suppose.

Dammit, FNM, you beat me (yuk yuk) to the fapping joke.

That's bit harsh. Prayer in the sense of invoking God to do something definitely works for me, I can't speak for others.

It's not meant to be harsh. I was just going along with the metaphor.Smile

My point was what you believed you were "invoking" was actually just you all along.

Uhhhhhh like what?!

Tell us which of your prays came true. Did you pray for a cold to go and it did? For the sun to rise? Your eyes to see? Your cat to miau?

People always pray for possible stuff and then attribute it to prais when it happens. You never see one praying for becoming a giant pink monster becoming a giant pink mosnster.

Fair enough lol

Yeah but when I always used to invoke God, I used to invoke Him for things totally beyond my control which is actually not a very good etiquette as I found out later. But anyway, I'll give you an example, when I was younger everyone in my class had to do a class presentation on something, but I delayed preparing mine out of procrastination until the actual night before when I realized I'm not even ready to do it and I fucked up bad. So I spent half the night praying that the teacher wouldn't even be there and that I won't have to do it, bearing in mind he was there for every day of the last few weeks, so more than half the class have already done their presentation. When the next morning came, he sat us all down and told us that he is going to a conference that morning, so the lesson will be taken over by a sub, and presentations are cancelled for the day. Now, people can insinuate all they want but for me, that's a blatant answer to my prayer. And this wasn't the only time this kind of thing happened either. So, I feel my experiences clearly shows- at least to me- that belief and sincerity in a divine response does produce fruition.

Aristotle lived 2300 years ago, and certainly didn't have google to do all the search to his heart's content, which he would have known that the stomach is a thinking mechanism. But people today don't have that excuse. If they are dumb, they are willfully ignorant. Big Grin

Then they play the guilt trip. If your prayer didn't have a response, it's on you, not your god, because:
A) YOUR lack of faith
B) YOUR bad choice of petitions
C) YOU are being tested
D) YOU have been naughty

So my son asks me to help him because the book shelf fell and caught his foot. I don't help him because:
A) He doesn't believe enough that I can do it.
B) He didn't ask for help for the right reasons
C) I'm testing him. Maybe he loves me unconditionally, maybe he doesn't.
D) He's been naughty.

Boy did you get that one wrong, it wasn't god that answered that prayer but me, and it wasn't your prayer that I answered. Your teacher cried out to the heavens that if he had to spend another morning with you and your lot he'd snap - and lo did I provide him with a righteous conference to attendeth-eth.

Meanwhile, god was picking his nose. He didn't have the energy to prioritize and so he ignored the baby in Chiapas, Mexico, who's indian mom left him in the forest to die and be eaten by ants. He ignored the six year old girl who prayed for her dad not to rape her again. He also ignored the single father of two who prayed for a better job so he could pay for his child's chemo. All of this just for kicks and so he could make a teacher be busy so you could chillax. Thinking
