Will Christianity Cease Development or Drive Itself Into Truth?

RE: Will Christianity Cease Development or Drive Itself Into Truth?
Indeed....the threats made by you and yours, the fantasies you have about what you're going to do or have done to the lingering ethereal corpse of another person - just so happen to scare the shit out of a certain subset of people.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Scare them with a mythological hell and then offer them the mythological cure in the form of a mythological deity.

Until humanity gets rid of the "Us vs Them" mentality, abrahamic religions will die and something else will take it's place.

Until humanity can consider and hold the "Us AND Us" paradigm we will be lurching forward to only stager a few more steps backwards.

Why you feel the need to terrify shitwits, though, is a mystery to me.

Its not death that scares people...its what after!

Mmm hmm, the fear of death, sometimes not even that... it is being way to proud to accept the fact that You leave the world as a living person.

Sure, they are reforming as we speak, but at the rate that the RCC is currently adapting to reality they'll be hard pressed to get in line with today's reality before the sun expands and engulfs earth, something like 7-8 billion years from now.

Then it won't matter.

I wonder about that. We created gods long ago and put them on paper, where they couldn't interact with us outside of our own imagination. I think that in the future we will create gods and load them into computer memory, where they will be able to interact with us and seem more real. Unless we've evolved away this crippling need to know-the-how-and-why-about-everything-right-here-and-right-now, I would expect that we will quickly blur the lines and find god in the machines.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

If this happens I wonder if christianity's emergency plan is to recede to worshipping Skynet.

Your begging the question here.

Christianity is Freedom. Freedom from the Law as our only means to righteousness. (The state of being needed to enter Heaven.) With this true form of freedom we have the ablity to change to fit whatever situation or belief system we need to in order to go about what we have been commissioned to do. With this freedom we have the power to free ourselves from the law of religious practices and we also have the ablity to bind ourself down to whatever religious practices we deem practical. Christ said it like this: "What we bind on Earth (Make laws to on earth) will be bound for us in Heaven, and what we loose here on Earth will be loosed in Heaven."

So to answer your core question will Christianity change or adapt to follow truth? Yes, we have the freedom to change everything but the Law of God to help us worship and Love God with all of our being.

Quote:The things I am talking about are the doctrine, dogmas, the sacraments, the beatitudes, the commandments, etc. The coded structure that defines Christianity. Changes such as the church approving condoms for health justification.
See above.

Quote:I mean, some of these sections like the commandments for the most part are very very outdated. If they are to maintain followers or gain any (ugh), they ought to learn and use that understanding effectively.
I agree. The commandments were recorded for OT Jews, and not New Testament Christianity.

So if the Church starts to condone casual sex with your choice of partner, recreational drugs, rock music and porn you will get all those things in heaven?

Can't help feeling you are missing a trick here - do the above and sign me up.
