Why I feel Stuck in Christianity

Are you asserting that it is untranslatable?

No scholarship I have ever read asserts those things.

The translations are as accurate as they can be, but the contextual reference still needs to be applied. Obviously the skeptics bible are making a living from the confusion that we must overcome to understand an ancient culture.

Scholars are engaged in exactly this. Translations have to be continually adapted to be understood against an ever changing modern context.

The unforgivable sin still feels wrong to me though. The ex-christian in me is shouting : "no, you will not go to hell for that."

You rang, m'lady?

No the babies were guilty sinners. God knew this. You cannot.

No matter how many times we all tell the OP that he hasn't committed the unforgivable sin, I get the impression he's going to keep on thinking it

My personal opinion of him is that he's blinkered. There's nothing quite like confirming your bias, that's why he's here.

Hi Fr0d0,

Listen mate the reason why I was worried is because of God because I wanted to be with him and didnt want to goto Hell. Lets face it is the only fucking reason why I wanted to be 'In' with God.

God himself sounds like a cruel fucker and from reading Genesis 1 to 25 there is alot of bull shit. I have been told to keep reading but its kind of hard that the righeous people in the bible are dick heads... Actually theres a great similarity to modern day Christians.

I had been burned by Christians many times for my views - Lost lots of friends because I hung out with 'Sinners' but you know one thing Fr0d0 the 'Sinners' were more genuine than any Christian I have ever met!

Simply put I am leaving Christianity because I am pissed off at the Conformity. A God who would torment people over the unforgivable sin or even say such a thing and then not explain it is very poor.

I am said I have lost my faith but Glad that I am not the only one who can actually see that its bull shit.

One thing I do miss though is Church - Because encouragement from others in person really helps with Indoctrination and an Athiest Forum dont quite cut it. Perhaps Il start a group!

You're in hell now. How does it feel?

Pascal's wager is a very bad reason to believe in God. In fact it isn't a reason. God wants you to be with him now. The choice of Christianity is the choice of good over evil. God is good, being with him means choosing good. Get it?

Now you can try to be good outside of religion. As confused as you sound that might be the best option for you. Forget about confirming your negativity. Break it off and go be a good person and focus on living a good, selfless life.

If you ever want to consider religion, do it because it inspires and enhances your life.

Now that's quite a claim.

Prove it.

The claim I quoted. That the 'George Carlin's' who look forward to 'oblivion' are 'the one's who are in danger.'

Quote:?

Errrm.... I think he was referring to "proof", and you not understanding the word. It's kind of ironic that you didn't realize that's what he was talking about.

I have to admit that I did not expect Frodo to go with the "Evil Baby" argument.

Warning: Evil baby

I have to say that I'm convinced. I'm glad that God is protecting me against all of these evil babies.

Warning: Very evil baby

Any spelling mistakes are due to my godlessness!
