Quote:I usually get the "Jesus meant spiritual death" reply.

Of course because "jesus" was such a schlimazel that he needed those douchebags to explain his meaning.

You sure you are using that word correctly?
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

We don't have long, Though people were likely saying that as soon as Jesus said to the people in front of them that some of them wouldn't taste death before he came back again. Then they all died, and christians had to move the goal post.

Yeah, I've been quoting that passage at end of world nuts for a few years.

I usually get the "Jesus meant spiritual death" reply.

ROFLOL

What passage would that be?

Why on earth do you think that?
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

I was talking about Matthew 24:34. I don't know about any spiritual deaths.

Yes.

What else can you say about a "god" who needs assholes to explain his meaning? Or who does not even exist but still gets his ass nailed to a tree?

Eventually there will be no more of us. There is no way, at this point, that we can determine how long us two-leggeds will last. Another thousand, million, -- billion years? Eventually we will all die out, but not for some time.

Rapture scenarios are a different story. When will the rapture occur? Never. Never, ever, ever, that is not an opinion -- that is a fact.

Any minute now -- how many people have lived their entire lives believing, truly believing, that they will personally witness the second coming of whats-his-ass and died never having seen it happen? Visit the Rapture Ready forums to see the extent of the psychological damage that has been these true believers:

These people are obsessed with beliving in something that wont ever happen. Raising children to believe ibn this shit is child abuse and there is no way around that.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste -- don't pollute it with bullshit.

Atheists should not fill out the poll but are welcome to post comments.

With the areas of the world providing the financial support for the religions losing religion - and growth remains in areas of the third world where they do not support the church - yes - the end of the dominance of religion is at hand.

While there will be areas of the Western world where religion will start to become extinct - it will be about 100 more years before it happens

None of the above. The events foretold in the Apocalypse happened in the spiritual world on June 19, 1757. These events were observed and recorded by Swedenborg in Apocalypse Revealed.

Events in the "spiritual world" were observed and recorded, huh?

Sounds as if someone was drunk as a skunk.

Yeah, I'm gonna go with never. At least not in the way the bible records it. Every Generation since Jesus has been convinced it was going to be in their lifetime. Not been right yet.
