Nah, because there's a lot more yelling and expletives in a marriage.

Duh.

Emperor Caligula thought his horse competent enough to become the chief magistrate of Rome.

I smell a rat. No Irishman would ever call Paddy's Day "Saint Patty's Day". That's one of the most annoying Americanisms out there.

a rodent that resembles a large mouse, typically having a pointed snout and a long, sparsely haired tail. Some kinds have become cosmopolitan and are sometimes responsible for transmitting diseases....Sounds like me...

I'm American but Mum's Mum was Irish. Google Saint Patricks day Butte Montana. It's a hard core Irish village. I used to live in Butte. Afterall, we turned a Saints day into a drunken Debauchery Holiday Cheers! I was not informed by anyone that such a term was an insult.

...Oh but what a crime it is to call him Patty/Paddy

I'm also German.

RE: marriage
Patty = Patricia, Paddy = Patrick. Unless St Patrick had a sex change and started going by "Patricia" by the end, he's not Patty.

If you were born in America, raised in America and live in America, you're American. If you were born in Ireland, raised in Ireland, or have lived long-term in Ireland, you might be Irish. That's kinda how nationality works.

I view Patty as unisex, as some names are.

RE: marriage
In Ireland, it isn't. It really bothers the Irish when yanks go on about "Saint Patty's Day". I think I remember Dublin Airport kicking off about it. Lemme go see.

ETA: Yup. It was Dublin Airport on Facebook.
