Believing and accepting are two different things.
If the Abrahamic god was proven to exist I would believe in it. But, since it is the most malevolent being yet created in all works of human fiction, nothing could get me to worship it.

Oh, you're so brave. I'm sure you're going to be as brave when you're facing the perils of hell, yes? I'm sure that you'd not be able to withstand even the most mild forms of human torturing methods, let alone face the fires of hell.

I should fear the Christian hell as much as I should fear Hades or any number of other mythical tortures.
Threats are the last, desperate resort of the religious trying to convert people.
Scare tactics only work on the weak minded or those who already believe that nonsense.

Then I would rather burn in a hypothetical hell than worship the most evil being in the cosmos. If the Abrahamic god were real and, therefore, as evil as it's documentation give it credit to be, I would suggest that Satan is given bad press and isn't as bad as we are led to believe.
Which to prefer, the lesser or greater of two evils?
Edit: I will grant you that's what I say now. If I were to encounter the situation for real I might change. I honestly don't know, as no one knows how they will react in this situation. I would hope I have the strength of character to stand by my convictions.

Which to prefer, the lesser or greater of two evils? I guess you don't know your scripture as well as I thought you did. Satan doesn't run hell.
God does.
And as I already said, I don't think that you couldn't stand it if someone burned out your eyes, or sliced off your ears, before recanting your words and exclaiming your belief in God.

Well, you would have the strength, if those convictions were actually based on something, but from the way I see it, they have no real basis, so there is no reason behind your martydom in whatever cause you profess to.
What is your higher purpose?

Well, you don't know me so you can't speak on my behalf.
My higher purpose?
To help people and, hopefully, make the world a slightly better place by my presence.
Where did I get my higher purpose?
I chose it for myself.

I especially like the snide remarks about my bravery and martyrdom.
Makes a girl feel special.

Well, I can speak on the behalf of the torturer, that if he is skilled, he can make you believe in anything or force you to say anything that he wants.
Jean of Arc has faced death by fire because she believed that she was chosen by God, and that she would go to heaven if she stood firm and true through the excruciatingly painful punishment she had received.
What do you have to show for?

Very nice Something that would help you to withstand torture, eh?
Quote:I chose it for myself.
Well, everybody does that. It is the basis that matters.
